Hi all - We've had threads here about the downward pressure on prices on half.com and Amazon. I was startled by the results of two of my searches tonight. I bought two new hardcover Nonfiction books at the used bookstore this evening.
Book A is cover-priced $22 and was discounted to $13 last I looked on Amazon. I found 15 copies on half.com and none lower than around $15.95. There was a "sell now" message at the amount of $10.95. I said "forget that!" and chose $15. That's because I JUST SOLD this same book last night for that amount. This book has recently had a lot of publicity. But note: nobody chose to drive the price down.
Book B: same deal, cover price $24, and the existing half.com listings are for only a few dollars off.
I think this is a promising trend...doesn't apply for most books, but I guess for new titles.
