Ah, finally decided to try eSnipe (I had to based on circumstances). I was usually do a snipe bid through AuctionTamer, but this particular auction ended at an abnormal time where I couldn't possibly be home and I don't trust the AuctionTamer snipe if I am not at the computer.
It is a rather rare item (i.e. always a few auctions up, but in heavy demand), so prices are kind of high. I couldn't afford not (love those double-negatives) to snipe because of that. My account at vrane was having problems so I couldn't snipe through that.
Anyways, I set my buffer for 15 seconds. And here are the results:
Feb-28-01 14:56:29 PST - Auction End
Feb-28-01 14:56:18 PST - My Bid

You don't mention whether you won the auction or not.
If you felt you were cutting it too close, why wouldn'tyou just increase your buffer to 25 seconds (or whatever)? And this is a reason to never again use the service? I don't get it.

I have never had a problem with eSnipe, I thought a 10 second buffer was too much I knocked it back to 5 seconds, I thought about taking down a little tighter just for the halibut.
