I had a potential buyer on Ebay ask me to quote shipping charges to Indonesia. I read somewhere that there was some kind of problems with things going to Indonesia. Is that true and should I quote to this person?
THANKS!

There are HUGE problems coming out of Indonesia and at the top of the list is the problem of STOLEN CREDIT CARD purchases...I'd only consider selling there if the person sent me cold hard cash!

There is a LARGE credit card fraud ring operating out of Indonesia. The typical scam is they bid way up on something expensive and quickly re-sellable, have you shuip it REAL FAST (before you can find out the CC is stolen). You are out goods and money.
Ubnless they send you US CASH by registered mail (and you check it with a bank to make sure it's not counterfeit), or do a direct wire transfer to your bank ... do not ship anything to Indonesia!

The big problem with indonesia is getting paid. Many tranasctions involve some tyoe of credit card fraud. Do not accept PayPal or Billpoint and ship to indonesia, it will eventually come back. Don't take any money orders from Indonesia. So that leaves US Cash, and have the bills verified as not counterfiest before shipping. Or BidPay, and wait for the bidpay money order to clear before you ship.

Warning DON't do a WIRE transfer, you will have to give them you account number and then they can do damage.

We have at least once a day that a buyer wants us to send a money order to a seller in Indonesia . We always respond by saying we cannot handle this transaction.

Preacher -
When a country is KNOWN by the CC accepting companies to have an astounding rate of CC fraud ... it's REALITY, not xenophobia.

Indonesia!
No, No!
I have handled over 30 transactions with Indonesians! 100% fraud! All using stolen credit cards! All money charged back!
Bidpay is not allowed seller to ship item to Indonesia. All payment from bidpay remind of seller not shipping to Indonesia!!
Billpoint not allow shipping Indonesia! When you report that bidder requires shipping to Indonesia! Payment immediately charged back (with additional $10 fine to seller- they called investigation fee), and the Indonesian bidder suspended immediately.
Paypal is not allowed to ship to Indonesia! As well!

I don't know.
It's just that I would rather base my decision on facts, like the user feedback and the actual method of payment, not just on heresay and stereotypical comments.
The customer probably didn't even contemplated using a CC as a payment method.

Here is the transaction. gentleman has sent you payment for an auction item with pay pal. Here is the message from the sender I live in Bangkok, Thailand. Please put the item in global priority mail envelope (small-$5.00 and ship to - then the address of a different person appears. I had no problems and when you read the feedback it is excellent. This is my second transaction to Thailand but since the transaction was last year my husband conveniently threw them away. I had no problems with that either.

I had someone try to pay me w/ a stolen credit card in Feb. on a total right under $200. Good thing I didn't ship!
Make sure you have a valid payment!

This would depend on the items value.
I shipped a few small items Under $20 to indonesia no problem but my neighbor sold 2 DVD players and got screwed big time.

Well from reading all of the post here I find this to be enough factual information to just keep away from shipping there!

You can have someone send money to you at a BANK (not direct to your account). It lands in a sort of catchall account and you have to sign for it, but there are no withdrawals allowed out of it without a bit of paperwork and human intervention.
Much safer, if less convenient, than a direct deposit.

I have shipped to Indonesia no problem and they did pay via Billpoint. (Both times, same customer) I was very nervous the first time, but it worked out great. Of course, I sell clothing items & they items I shipped were low dollar items. So consider what you are selling and take it from there.

Preacher: This NOT about "heresay and stereotypical comments". None of these posts come from the attitude of a specific dislike or unfair prejudice for people from Indonesia. You seem to be missing the point entirely. It is a PROVEN FACT that there are these many stolen credit card rings operating out of that country for the express purpose of receiving goods transacted with these stolen credit cards.
I, for one, have nothing against the people of Indonesia or any other country for that matter! Quite frankly, I resent the implication!

Hi,
Indonesia is not an approved country for our service (due to the high incidence of credit card fraud there).
I would urge great caution when dealing with users from this region, as we do not extend service there (a list of approved countries can be found on the web site).
