I have a question about a problem that I've really not encountered until now. I have a bidder with negative feedback rating.
They have 2 negatives for nonpayment and 1 positive. My question for the group is how would you handle this? Would you attempt to cancel their bid or just allow them to win and hope for the best. I believe it's likely they will be the high bidder since the item has been bid up to a fairly lofty level. I considered cancelling their bid, but worry they may snipe at the end and win anyway. Any suggestions?

If you want to cancel their bid, do so and then send them an email telling them not to bid on your auctions again. Be sure to CC the email to [email protected]. Then if they snipe, they're in jeopardy of being NARU'd.

Tough, tough, tough call! And there's no perfect answer. You are probably going to have to go w/your gut feeling on this.

Was the positive first, then followed by the negs? If so, doesn't look promising.

If the negs were first, followed by the positive, then they may have gotten off to a bad start & are trying to do better.

I've sold to several people who had overall neg feedback & held my breath. Mercifully, all but one paid. Several are now well up in positive range. Sometimes people just get off on the wrong foot & eventually understand how ebay works. I don't hold their earlier negs against them.

Best advice...go with what you can live with.

There is an easier way to ban negative feedback bidders without doing all of the above. Check out this link on eBay:

Of course you still have to act one way or another on the bidder at hand.

Why not email them & ask them straight out?
I've seen sellers leave negs on high bidders because they didn't respond to the EOA email within 24 hours.
