When it is an "ad item".

eBay's alliance with Homeseekers.com explains it all.

Wonder how long it will take before we'll have non-auctions, too?

Real Estate cannot be sold in most if not all states unless their is a notaried contract because of something called Statue of Frauds. The offer must be in writing to be legally enforceable in conformance with the Michigan, California, and other states' Statue of Frauds.

Ebay is merely acting as a way to bring people together.

What'll really suck is down the road, when eBay makes ad items available to all sorts of companies, and the damn ads start cropping up in our search results because they'll be loaded with keywords. Click on the result thinking it's an item, only to find yourself involuntarily exposed to advertising.

spaz - Won't take many of those before most people would stop using search. I don't have time to be derailed to something I did not ask to see.
You see all these predictions of the death of eBay - but that could actually start it.
