I thought I was going nuts. I'm sitting here reading this lovely forum when I'm alerted by the yahoo messenger that I have an email. So I go open the email and this seller I not only paid but received the item this past Saturday had turned me in for NPB. Well I'm not going to send payment in again, esp since I am staring at this book right now in front of me next to my computer....

Maybe he's getting even because I didn't leave him feedback????

How should I fraise this email to this guy?? I've not had this occur before....

I did that once when I mixed up my paperwork.

Just send an email to the seller pointing out that you've already paid for and received the item, so they must have made an error in their records. Ask them to please check again.

I am a seller that just had the exact same thing happen to one of my buyers, although she hadn't recieved her item yet and had paid me late. When her payment didn't arrive I filed a non paying bidder alert and she contacted me and sent payment right away. However I had a few other non paying bidders around the same time and when I went to file for FVF for those I must have accidently done it on my late paying bidder by mistake. She emailed me and I asked for a copy of what ebay sent her, as soon as I realised my mistake I cancelled it through ebay and gave her my apologies and then filed for the correct auction!
Mistakes happen, your seller probably did something very similar and if you email them and explain I'm sure they will straighten it out for you.

tiggress, NPB is nothing, you don't get a black mark until he files for FVF.
Anyway, it's obviously an error on the seller's part. I'm sure he'll fall all over himself apologising when you inform him of his error.
Stuff happens. Give the guy a little slack, you'll need it yourself some day.

It was probably an honest mistake.
Sometimes when I screw up I do it big time! I filed a non paying bidder alert on a paid auction (mystery payment that had no email address or auction number- I hadn't cashed it) and the buyer was MAD. It took about five emails to calm him down and I shipped his item right away. So what do I do but file for final value credit 10 days later. That ruined the relationship for good and I felt like a complete idiot.

paislydaisy:

I haven't had a mystery payment in months. I have posted the trick that I came up with that eliminated them a couple of times here. If you missed it let me know and I (or someone else) can post it again if you're interested.

I remember reading about it but don't remember it exactly. Something about adding a dept. (auction ID) number on your address.
I send out my winning bidder notices via auctionwatch, about 50 at a time. How would I do it? I'd post my email address but don't know if it's allowed.

I'm not sure how you would do it from AW, but here is how I do it:

My payment address looks something like this:

First Last
IN-1234
123 Anystreet
Anytown, Anystate 12345

The IN stands for item number. The 4 digits after the IN- are the last 4 digits of the item number.

Others may do it a little differently but the concept is basically the same. A couple of people have reported that it isn't 100% effective for them but it has cut the mystery payments for ME from 3 or 4 a week to zero in the last 3 months.

I hope it helps if you can figure out how to do it from within AW WBNs...

I don't know any way to do that with auctionwatch. It's a great idea though. If I had just a few auctions closing I could do them one at a time but with so many it's not possible.
I usually send a postcard back to them but I get busy sometimes and end up sending a nonpaying bidder to them. They respond pretty quick and are mad. I do state in my winning bidder notices that I need the auction number and if I receive a payment without one their items won't ship quick.
I quess they figure I sell one item at a time!

Ebay WILL put a "strike" against your account IF the seller files a final credit form after this. I would contact them and give them 7 days to respond. It was probably just a mistake. If they don't respond, you can contact ebay and let them know that you DID receive the item, and they will contact the seller. Be patient and give it time to work itself out, it was probably just a mistake, but there are ways to settle this if it wasn't.
