I ran across a closed auction of an item that began with $1.00 and No Reserve. The item sold for a considerable amount and feedback between both parties has been exchanged. But, the item has been relisted.

How can this be?

I began 'snooping' and noticed that most of this sellers items sell and almost all closed auctions in recent weeks state the item has been relisted, even though they all started with $1.00 No Reserve and sold and in most cases feedback has been exchanged.

Can anyone explain how this could be?

Is it something they could have more then one of.

I've done that when I've had more then 1 to sell. Its easier to relist it then make a new ad.

That was before they had the link on the closed auction.

Yes, and he/she does not want to flood the market by listing them all at once. Keeps prices higher that way.

But is that a 'proper' use of the re-list feature?

I always understood if an item sold it couldn't be relisted, even if you had another that looked the same.

Not trying to cause trouble, just trying to understand something I never realized.

I have never thought to use the re-list feature unless the item did not sell.

My thoughts on this issue have gone 'Un-Surveyed' and may not be of importance to the P.T.B.

noteye, you can use the relist feature even if the item sold. Mother eBay will notify you that the item is not eligible for the relist fee credit, and you just click OK and party on.

It's just so you don't have to keep typing the same thing over and over. Just relist it indefinitely until you run out of them. I've done it myself many times.

If it is against the rules, I didn't know and don't really care. If I have more of a sold item I'll relist it (maybe edit if necessary..). Why would I just keep typing the same thing over and over, week after week? I have other things to do...

Yes if the person has the same item(s) they don't want to list them all at the same time.

I do it a lot. One item in particular. I list it 2 x , same ad, and have a Buy it Now.

This item usually always gets sold with Buy it Now, but sometimes only one is sold with Buy it Now, the other one, someone starts bidding, and always, never fails someone always goes over the Buy it Now price. there is no way I can stop that, or I don't know, can I? or should I?

Once they go off, I relist it again. I don't get any free relist but just use the same ad.

Now this is for a product, and it does sell well, I just got lucky in getting a lot of it. Its a finite supply, so it won't last forever, right now, its been really good to me.

I recently notice at the top of some completed auctions that it now says something like "this auction is completed, but this item, or another one like it, has been relisted".

I relist that way all the time, back at Christmas I'd relist some auctions as many as 6 times a day.
