Has anyone else run into this line in more and more auctions lately? I saw one last night that basically said if you had even one negative feedback and bid, your bid would be cancelled. Its impossible to sell or even buy on ebay on a regular basis and not receive a negative feedback. Yet, no matter how high feedback is, with even one negative they will cancel your bid? What is it with people?

Hi Jenndiggy1,
See other thread about "internet sellers are paranoid" he he...
I've seen that in some sellers' TOS myself and I can't imagine why someone would shoot themselves in the foot that way. I haven't had a neg yet, but I am sure the first one is coming and if those sellers don't want my money they're in luck cause they ain't getting it!

I must have been posting this thread at the same time the paranoia thread was started.
I've also seen more and more 'if you have 0 feedback, your bid will be cancelled.
I LOVE my 0 feedback customers. Sure, they are more likely to be deadbeats than someone with more feedback, but not always. We all started somewhere.
PLUS, 0 feedback people are often newbies that don't know what things go for, so therefore are more likely to make bidding go higher for something, and the serious ones are often the quickest to pay!
I love my newbie buyers.

That is a sad idea because most of my dead beat bidders have no negs when they bid on my items and then appear to disappear off of the face of the earth.
But I have over 3000 pos and 4 negs, so I guess I couldn't bid......

I have over 1000 feedback and have never really begged for it so that represents about 10,000 transactions. I have one neg so I am dead meat I guess.
I have to admit when I list items in catagories where dead beats are a problem I ask for no more than 2% negs in order to bid.

Geez! If some sellers out there want to spend their time reviewing the feedback of each & every bidder and then spending MORE time cancelling the bids of zero feedback bidders & anyone w/one neg or more, then let them have at it.
I'd rather spend MY time loading more auctions and taking care of my customers. I rarely review bidders on my auctions unless I'm terminally bored that day.
Gosh, I'm HEARTSICK that the single retaliatory neg in my feedback means I can't bid in these auctions.
NOT!

Just the other evening I was interested in an item that was closing in about 10 min. That auction had something to the effect that no bids were allowed from anyone with negative feedback and if you were serious that you would have to e-mail ahead for permission.
The ID that I was signed in with has two retaliatory negs from a bad seller. I would have paid more than what the item went for.
I could have signed out and then back in with a good ID but I didn't bother. Kind of silly as he would have been dealing with the same buyer. Anyone could do that.

shaani,
Come on now..tell the truth!
Weren't you the slightest bit tempted to email the seller & tell them you were going to bid on their auction but noticed they had negatives & couldn't BID on any auction where the seller had negs?

Hi eventer,
The real truth?
I was tempted to snipe it. Hehe.
But I didn't want to upset a paranoid seller.

That would probably be a WORSE punishment for them.
Wonder what they do if someone w/negs snipes one of their auctions?

If I sniped it and I had 2 negs?
With a long anal TOS like that one I am just picturing someone writhing in his chair with his eyeballs popped out.
Scary thought!

I don't understand how sellers have the time to check anyone's feedback. I only run about 20 auctions at a time and wouldn't dream of checking all the bidders feedback. I did have a bidder at a -1 bid on one of my auctions. I thought about cancelling their bid since this was their only feedback but what had been written by the seller sounded a little ranty and nutty, I decided to let it continue. They ended up as high bidder paid by paypal. Got back to zero feedback with my feedback and are now a repeat buyer with over 20 positives, so you never know.
Not Dragonfyree anywhere but here.

Actually, we should be encouraging those sellers...email them and let them know how smart they are to be stopping 0 feedback bidders or bidders who have any negatives from bidding. In fact, we should be out there spreading the word that those who follow this path are wise sellers.
Great way to cut the competition!

It is a wise seller indeed that won't allow zero feedback bidders. Hopefully someday eBay will disallow zero feedback buyers the ability to bid until they've gotten at least 5 positive feedbacks on purchases.
The sellers that require no negatives feedbacks and a minimum of 20 positive feedbacks are the Donald Trumps of tomorrow.

And just how will they get 5 positive feedbacks on purchases if they are not allowed to bid?
