guys, I use endicia and it works great. but i'm very frustrated with the postage you lose when your printer or computer screws up.

I think i've lost enough to buy a postage printer now. I'm seriously thinking of getting one. is anyone using it now? there's this one advertised on endicia's website.

does anyone know if that postage printer would screw up like your printer does? or does it go through without much problems.

thanks much much in advance.

My printer prints postage just fine. Personally, if your printer is messing up that badly I'd spend the money on a much higher quality printer. You don't say exactly what is going on with your printer but I'd be willing to bet it's a vertical feed, or in other words, the paper loads in the back and stands up then feeds down through the printer.

This type of design has plagued printer designers for many years now. They will feed 5 sheets at a time, feed crooked or jam up. The paper separators and feed dogs on these printers are horrible.

Printers which feed from a flat position where the paper lies in a paper bin and then feeds through the mechanism and out are much more reliable.

By chance, is this a $30 Lexmark printer that came free with a system as a package? Let me know if my guesses on the printer type or manufacturer are correct.

If would be money much better spent to invest in a high quality printer that will do you well in all circumstances rather than a label-only printer which would be specific in its duty.

Also, keep in mind the label costs. The average per label cost for that printer is 9.9 cents each for internet postage double long labels or 2.9 cents per label for 2.25 x 4 labels when you don't need DC. I only pay 1.1 cents per label and 2.2 cents total if I need to print Delivery Confirmation.

Greetings xellos:

If you recall I was having print problems too...then after Harry posted saying that he thought it was a resource problem on our computers I started deleting cache, closing all programs, and restarting prior to printing postage.

Since I started this process I haven't had any problems.

We are using different printers but had the same results if I recall....it appears to go print, deducts the postage, and never actually prints.

I used the simply postage printer for over a year with great success but that did not print out the delivery confirmation so I ended up standing in line at the post office to get the DC round stamped.

I have moved to a new post office....they treat me as a bulk mailer and I simply take my packages, with the endicia postage and DC printed out on them, drop them inside the back door of the post office and leave. Best post office experience I have ever had!

Best of luck.

hehe, thanks for the fast reply. I'm actually using a $170 Epson. My printer prints stuff out okay, but somehow, messes but sometimes with endicia. The problem is that half of the lost postages are due to my computer problems. say the endicia software freezes up, no printer connection and stuff like that.... like tonight, i can't print anything out, it seems like my computer is not connecting to my printer when all the cables are connected.
