No more mister nice guy is my new theory. I have been selling for 13 months and have never touched off a neg in fear of accumulating return negs. I have 477 positives w/no negs. Lately though, I have been getting $#&!&$ at least once a week. Should I let the neg bombs fly?

you should have left a neg long ago, right after you were screwed the fist time. not leaving a neg for fear of retaliation is, is, well i can't say what i am thinking. it would be very disrespectful.....negs should be left WHENEVER they are deserved, PERIOD!!!

time to be pragmatic : leaving a neg increases your chances of getting a neg
Read the posts here and lots of folks will not bid if you have negs
Many potenial bidders are not going to take the time to find all the negs in your feedback and evalaute them
They are just going to look at the numbers evan though you may have received them all as retalitory.
SO you have to do whats best for your business file NPB for shure. they actually have teeth as you can contribute to getting deadbeat NARU.
In a perfect ebay society yes npb and leave neg
In the real world ebay NPB and move on

I have suggested to ebay customer service that it would be nice to be able to see all a persons negs grouped together to help evluate them...
spock here......
Live long and Prosper

I'm assuming you're talking about deadbeats here. I would never leave a neg unless I'd been ripped off.

Then I ask myself - does being ripped off for 30-55 cents warrant me badmouthing a person in a public forum? I wouldn't gossip about someone in real life who shorted me that amount.

And actually, the deadbeat doesn't rip you off, eBay does. While I understand that they can't refund your money, it would be simple enough I think that if you filed for FVFs on an auction, the "relist is free if it sells the second time" option could come into play.

I know the deadbeat rips you off for things like time, energy, etc. and I'm not underplaying how aggravating it is to just get silence or screwed around at the end of an auction.

But, ultimately, you have your item in your possession to go ahead and list again.

Now if you're talking about checks bouncing after an item ships and then not being made good, or a chargeback on an item shipped, then yep, neg their asses off!

Well, I've left a total of 17 negs for no payment, and I've recieved 2 retalitory.
The negs I leave are very factual. "No payment or email after 3 weeks" type of thing.

I responded to both of my negs with dates and facts. No emotions involved. These are the two retalitories and my responses:

(4/19)Complaint : Zero Compassion with Family issues. Too quick to add Negative Marks!!
Response : pymt rec'd 38 days after close date (2/11) I left neg on 3/13.

(Oct 8th) Complaint : No Shirt! Claims no payment, sent postal money order. I can't control the mail..
Response : EOA 8/5, Last email 8/19; Can't help if I am not aware pymnt was sent/lost

I am always careful to check and recheck my data BEFORE I leave the neg, to ensure that there was enough time, and to ensure that communication and payment are lacking.

I've got 3 payments "missing" from 3 separate Canadian Buyers. It's been 6 weeks since EOA for all three. They have all contacted me, and we are waiting for their payments to arrive. Since it is 3 separate buyers, and my post office has commented on Canadian mail right now, I probably will not neg these buyers. We may, at some point here, end the auction, and file for fvf under buyer and seller agreed... but I will not neg them.
