Good thing I'm not being charged listing fees for A4A. Over the past month and a half, every single one of the winning bidders have been deadbeats. Every one! I'm not going to neg the deadbeats for an item that I'm not out of money for and get all those negs in return, but geez this was rather ridiculous. I might get negged by them anyway.

Well of course you aregoing to neg them! And you should say... Unbelievable! Did not pay for an AFA auction. Ebay should houseclean. Then promptly put them on your blocked bidderlist! And why would they neg you? What did you do wrong?

I have had several problems with AfA bidders too. However, my experience has been that it is because people are confused about the Billpoint requirement. I've had several people asking me where to send the check for an AfA auction, or if they can use Paypal. I've just written up a detailed explanation of how AfA works, and how they HAVE to pay the money directly to ebay using Billpoint. It's taken a while for some of the bidders to get it, but once they get it they have paid. So, it appears to me that even though ebay has received tons of free publicity for AfA, they have really dropped the ball on getting the REAL message across and people are not understanding the concept. I'd say that this is reason #8 in why they are soooo far from meeting their goal.

thekismeme> And so what? If you are factual about why you negged someone, people are not stupid and they can see that you have gotten a retaliatory neg! That is what the feedback system is all about. Having the guts to run your business like it should be run, praise the good and neg the bad. Look. It is the same premis of: Your neighbor is a bully and spray paints your windows of your house. You do nothing because you are afraid they will spray paint you again. They don't. They kill your dog! If they leave a neg, you can answer them on that feedback with: Retaliatory neg. They did not pay for a AFA Auction. Seller beware.

I went to vrane where one of their free feedback tools allows you to seen negative/neutral feedback received and given. It is not true that all negs return a neg. I found I have left 55 and have only had 3 in return.

I was afraid that would When I looked at the amount some of these items were bringing I really wondered If they would pay.

With the downturn in the economy and layoffs being announced every day some of them may have legitimatley intended to pay when they bid but have re thought there financial situation. I know I am not buying naything other than essentials right now

I would not neg One. you risk retaliation and a neg is a neg no matter what the reson once it gets buried in feedback profile how many potential buyers are going to scroll down and read it ?

Two. you are not out anything on the action give the npb the benifit of the doubt on this one.

kattsimi,

Sorry to hear that....

Here's my take...

Too bad eBay didn't just suspend feedback on AFA auctions...

Seller donates item, buyer makes contribution....pays eBay, item ships

or

Buyer makes contribution, doesn't get item or gets box of rocks...

or

Ebay doesn't get paid for donation of item....seller doesn't ship and relists..or not.

One would hope conscience would prevail here but negging over what should have amounted to charitable contributions is counter-productive in my view.

Personally, I probably wouldn't neg a buyer for a non-payment on an AFA auction...considering the realities of why we're doing this....and my motivations for listing an AFA in the first place.

On a regular business transaction? Nail 'em to the wall!

Pat

PS, it may be an unpopular view but I wouldn't list an AFA auction, instead choosing to give to charities of my choice to help with this tragedy...

Well if the bully sprayed my windows......I would call the police..........just like when I am not paid by a deadbeat I report it to ebay.........they do the rest just like the police...........

I run my business just fine.......thank you very much........and until the feedback system is changed........I won't risk my business by leaving such feedback.........and don't kid yourself......I look at the ret. negs.......if they are not buried too deep....but I also take in to consideration that I might not want to deal with someone that might be difficult to deal with.......like it or not you are taking a chance that could effect your business everytime you neg a deadbeat. I turn them all in to ebay.........and if everybody is doing this........3 strikes they are out.

You got it! Why should we risk our online seller feedback to police ebay?

I can see why people might deadbeat an AFA auction. Most of the items sell for a price that's far beond a reasonable market value. Also, the person may have come to the conclusion that AFA may have questionable motives and no longer wish to support it. Not that it's the right thing to do.

As far as negative feedbacks go, Ebay should take care of that themselves. An administrative neg might be in order in these cases.

you know this kind of reminds me of the time Burt Reynalds was having finanacial problems having just divorced Lani Anderson and the local theatre group sued him becouse he had pledged funds and was no longer able to pay.

I truly don't recall the outcome just that it was extremlly tacky in my opion.

The afa bidders were mostly well meaning
