What have been the most helpful or memorable threads for you here?

Some of you are so great with finding the actual old threads. Can you post the link to them?

I have a 'Bookselling for Idiots II" thread bookmarked. It was a wealth of incredible info. I still look through it from time to time.

I wonder if I should print it all out (and any you might offer, too). The format might change here or all of the previous posts might be deleted. Oh no!

Ok..........this might have been the most helpful thread........but I just loved two threads that ExecGirl started........the skinny wrists and the buttonhole threads.......they were like a soap opera!

handmade5,

To make a thread clickable do this, without the $'s....

[$url]http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=358196[$/url]

And you will get this:

Here you go, handmade5

Actually one of my very favorite threads (other than jerry12's) was from long, long ago. It was basically how to drive your customer's nuts.

The person who started it (and I guess I still can't mention names) said he liked to take his ink eraser, erase the amount on the check, then tell his customer they sent a blank check. When the got the replacement check, well, he'd take out his trusty ink eraser.

After a couple of "huhs???", everyone got in the spirit & came up with all kinds of funny things to do to keep customers off balance (all tongue in cheek, you know). I howled for days over that thread. Wish I'd bookmarked it for posterity.

Well...a little late but I did get the link fixed. Thanks Joice!

I don't think I could pick which thread has been the most helpful. The boards here on AW have been chock full of good tips and advice, not only for myself, but for many others.

This new decision of AW's just rips my shorts. I won't post a CC to be able to post here, and I'm sure many others won't either. AW is making a very bad mistake.

Well, It wasn't a helpful thread, but I really enjoyed the thread on how to get even with snotty buyers/sellers. It included getting their names on magazine mailing lists, sending flowers from annonymous, among other things. It was just real entertaining.

ALso, I do hope we can make it to the finish of the racist armoire buyer! That one ranks with the small wristed buyer thread!

Best of luck to you all!

Eventer,

I don't think that link is clickable because there is a . (dot) after msg that shouldn't be there.

Just telling you so it won't drive you crazy wondering, like it did me.

It wasn't helpful but it was my favorite,

last fall I believe, an ebay seller had been suspended and came looking for sympathy.

this seller had negs for things like shipping in a used pizza box "it got there didn't it?" and shipping a vase full of trash and old cigarette butts.

he/she was famous for their retaliatory negs and other very nasty habits

Boy did he get blasted on that thread!

I cannot remember his id but I would love to read that thread again.

Can anyone find it?

For rarriffle,

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=259830&id=259830

There was a follow-up thread about sharing relisting techniques and then a "I have been banned from ebay! Help!" thread.

Joice and Eventer thanks for the link help!

I still remember the "Fake Van Gogh painting thread." It was top notch investigation and fascinating to read the mystery unfolding. Twists and turns.

For "helpful," I also remember another bookseller who contributed a lot of tips. I know I can't post her name, can't even remember it, but it had 'bird' (I think) in the ID.

She was SO helpful that everyone was copying her tips and doing great with their auctions. She got mad, said she was really sorry she helped everyone, and then stormed out of AW.

Anyone know what thread her bookselling tips are in?

The "flea market" post down below is excellent, too.

I think it's funny that everyone seems to love the "revenge" suggestions!

I think the most helpful thread was the one in which a corporate lawyer (he was the father of one of the regular posters) answered our questions about VERO -- didn't that grow out of the Buckley thread?

So many wonderful memories!

Eleanordew, here's the ASK A LAWYER DAY thread and yes, it came about because of the misuse of the Vero program by the Jeff Buckley Defenders Vero:

I have this one bookmarked because there is a great deal of helpful info in there.

My faves were the ones that just showed that people stuck it out, put up with nutbars, dealt with the hassle etc.
Learned a lot from Bhearsch (sp), Reddeer and Amy, prolly can't recall some others.
Shipping and packing tips are good, but there are some "god is in the details" stuff I learned that really made things smooth.
Thanks, hope to run into the wonderful folks elsewhere.

And most likely the ones we learned the most from are the ones that don't & won't have their CC's submitted here. Kinda sad that AW doesn't trust them enough.

Last I knew, AW did not allow two posters to have the exact same ID. I guess it must be a coincidence,Eh?

Eventer ...... LMAO, ya right!

Psalms ..... Seriously, I have no idea what you're talking about? The mod squad is well aware of who I am, and always has been. They helped me change my ID.

Perhaps someone else took one of my old ID's, I am rather popular around here ya know. LOL

Uh, HELLO?

reddeer's last post was 7/7 at 11:17 pm
kiawok signed up as of 7/7 11:41 pm.

Doesn't look like 2 posting IDs to me, but, then again, I always like to actually look at the facts.
