Could someone please clarify for me if paypal charges fees on an auction payment for shipping?
I was under the impression they charge their percent for the whole caboodle (auction ending price, shipping and insurance if added)but I was nicely informed by another seller that if I had paid for my auction purchase using their payment request that they would not have been charged a paypal % on the shipping, just the auction price..??
Are they right and if they are I've been doing it all wrong?! Do they have some special account??
Thanks in advance! A long time lurker, sometimes poster.

I've not heard this, as far as I know, you pay paypal a percentage of the amount the buyer sends, which includes shipping.

Thanks AHC3 for the verification!
I guess what threw me was they way that they stated that I should have used the request that they sent me. Meaning I believe that they had split the info. into selling price and the shipping whereas I lump summed the payment into just one, into the selling price column.
If anyone has thoughts on that it would be appreciated!

pratt9999,
I don't have a clue since I dont use it but I did recently buy something and the seller did ask me to break out bid and shipping since they would save on fees.

There was a time when another seller told me to split out the amounts on my purchase for that same reason. However, since then, I was to learn that the fees are charged based upon the total amount the buyer sends the seller...I'll check the rules, but am almost 100% sure that is correct.
