I drop off all my packages inside the PO by the "tub dropoff door". I don't do anything special with my international packages. Today I had a international package returned to me with a note saying that I must hand it to a clerk. It was never red round stamped so I'm assuming that's the problem but I'm not sure. My question is, am I supposed to do a date correction on this package and fill out a new customs form. The customs form is still on the package but the tear off portion has been ripped off.

Thanks.

I don't know why you'd have to hand your International packages to a clerk personally. I don't use Endicia, but I use ClickStamp (and for a very short time prior to that I was affixing regular stamps to the packages) and I was told that I could drop the packages at the bulk dock just like the domestic ones as long as I had the customs form attached and the proper postage. I've mailed a few out recently and they've all arrived at their destination.

Your best bet is to talk to a postal clerk about it on your next shipping date. Get it straightened out for future reference.

My Post Office will NOT accept international packages at the tub drop-off. I think that everyone is being more careful about regulations now, and you're getting the extra work as a result.

I used endicia for 3 international shipments, all three got lost. I would recommend going inside with international shipments, I know I will from now on.

Yes I filled out the little green form.

International mail should never be dropoff in a bin. Too much risk that they will try to deliver it as a domestic package and it just get lost in the system.

Also, I am not sure how you can do International mail without going thru the counter. The mailing and packaging requirements are not the same for all countries. Customs form also changes depending on size/weight and need to be scan into the system when the package is mail. How can you do that with a dropoff?

Never had a problem with any International item here from 1 ounce to 9 pounds.

If you know how you're mailing the package (Airmail vs. Surface vs. GPM) and have the mailing method clearly written on the package and you know the weight of the package (having a scale at home so you can accurately charge the customer the right shipping amount) and you know which customs form to use (under 4lbs. vs. over 4 lbs.) and you have the correct amount of postage on and your PO tells you to just drop it off with the others and they'll separate the International packages out and take them up front to be scanned later, then why can't you just drop them off?

But it's obvious that some PO's allow it and others don't. I'm lucky because mine does.
