Well I just had the first case of someone ripping off my images. Not only the images, but pretty much the text from my ad as well. My item number is 1291942278 and the one that was stolen is 1292798301....

Yeah, it sure does look like it...

Even worse, bidding is 60% more on his than yours.

Only thing to do next time is include something personal (i.e., your eBay ID) in the image.

Reporting him on the day the auction ends isn't gonna help - but you could still send him an e-mail and let him know you saw it.

One reason your auction may be selling for less than your competitor's is that gray background you are using. As a professional web designer I would suggest a white background with touches of bright but not garish color. And stay away from animation.

I did send a message to this seller and his excuse is that my auction already closed and that his camera was broken. Quite a poor excuse. Many times I do put my eBay ID in my images.

The best part of the theft (if you'll excuse my saying so) is where he quotes "himself" as in "I removed one just to show the actual speakers".

Not only did he steal your pictures, he also stole your labor! sheesh. Of course, there was not way to use the pictures without a quote like this.

Thank you for the info. I sent links of both auctions to the kristin@ebay as well as Safeharbor with a title of Time Sensitive in the subject.

Revenge is simple: Close your auction. (you can always relist it another day.) Delete the picture from your host site, but remember what you called it--such as mypicture.jpg or whatever. Then take a picture of something else (maybe of a sign "This Picture Was Stolen" or whatever you think is appropriate) label it mypicture.jpg and place it back on your host site. The picture he stole from you will now be the NEW picture he stole from you. A sure way to get him to end his auction quickly and teach him the consequences of his actions.

I have gotten a quick response by sending email to:

[email protected]

They should take care of it.

Good luck!

Long Long ago... I saw an auction where this same thing happened. The true owner of the pic deleted the auction photo and replaced it with a picture of a BIG UGLY butt with the text:
This seller is an a$$ for stealing my pictures!

Didn't take long for it to be turned in and the thief was NARU'ed. Must have happened more than once.

may work again...If not... we all have a lot of fun laughing at his auction.

Hello there,
im sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
unfortunatly, i've have a family crisis on my hands for the past week
and i don't see and end to it soon. i sincerely apologize, but i won't
be able to afford the item that I bid on. I hope you understand.
Again, I apologize.

Ahhh the old family crisis routine [at times in the past I have been tempted to put a warning in some of my auctions along the lines of -"please only bid on this item if you do not get on well with your relatives as fatalities may follow"], is it true or not that's the ?; keep an eye on his auction activity to see if bidding is still occuring [you might even strike lucky and find his bid on the same item his left you in the lurch with] - if he is face him with the facts and appropriate feedback [don't go over the top with fb, just the facts].

Re: picture theft, I remember recently reading a similar stor yon this board and I believe the guy was going to replace the picture with a one of Bin laden with the title:
"All proceeds of this auction will be donated to the Taliban".

Actually he thought of doing the Taliban thing, what he actually did was put a not on the picture that this month was a special sale, all bids will be reduced by 50%, Free Federal Express overnight shipping Included... But that got some interesting email.
