I was bidding on an item and was outbid, so I went ahead and bid on another similar item. Now I get an email from eBay congratulating me on now becoming the high bidder since someone retracted theirs. Is this right? So now I may end up with 2 items. . . of cours I can sell one. . . but it seems to me that we should be given the choice, if we've been outbid, on if we're still interested or not.

Am I just nuts or is this a dumb policy?

I agree It is a dumb policy your recourse is to cancel one of your bids

I would cnacel the bid of the item that you were number two on I would send the seller a short note telling him what happened.
spock here......
