C2it's site is slower than molasses in January, and that's if you are lucky. Many times I can't connect at all and I've never been able to get my sister-in-law's computer to connect even once. Buyers aren't keen on signing up with a new payment option that often, especially when it is seldom offered. Another disadvantage of C2it is while buyers might be prone to enter their credit card information, or even their bank account information they tend to get nervous when the requirements include their social security number, they only want to make a purchase, not sign up for a bank account.
C2it came much too late to be competitive, they were after PayPal, PayMe, PayPlace, PayDirect, MoneyZap, etc.. They wanted others to test the waters before them, and it cost them. PayPal signs up new members at 15,000 to 20,000 a day, C2it signed up 200,000 new members in a year. I got my account in October 2000 and not one single buyer ever used it, I no longer list it on my auctions.
Take my evaluation with a grain of salt, I'm long time, very satisfied, PayPal user, and I'm not a particular fan of CitiBank's operations.

Thanks for the info uaru. I'm also a very happy PayPal user from the first month they opened.
I didn't know you had to open a bank account to use the c2it service. From their news announcement this morning it didn't sound that way. I'll have to check into it further.

I have had 1 payment with c2it. They ewmil with "Auction has been paid for" BUT does not say what auction. I had to email the buyer. They make it hard to withdraw your money. Web site is slow and hard to understand. Calling them is harder than pulling teeth.

C2it is going to make there online payment service Free I read the artical on Cnet just yesterday..
I believe with all the incressing fees we have seen in this online auction industry in the past two years yahoo and c2it are finally bring some good things to auction seller in lowering costs.

mitch3 asked why all the negs...well it seems to these eyes that the following problems were brought up....
1. Functionality - "like molassas"
2. Privacy - wanted social security number in addition to credit card info
3. Lack of responsiveness - phone and site support lacking for this user
4. Unprofessional - payment notice did not include information on auction paid for
Seems to me these are things that should be addressed, not excused.

I have been using c2it seen July!
Yes they are slow and the BIGGEST complains I hear is that new people can not register. They get errors over and over again.
Another problem I have is when I claim the payment it says FAILED as my confirmation number but it moves the payment to my account, go figure!
I received about 14 payments so far in November, 32 in October.
One other thing I just discovered this past week, they do not know how to handle echecks. I received notice of the pending echeck by email but knowing shows on your account at all until the echeck clears. To me it looks like it is just lost somewhere.
I have called them on many, many occasions. Never a problem getting through. But it is hard to get someone who actually knows what they are talking about. Most of them are new and look up you question in their quick guide and do not have a clue what you are talking about. I usually ask to speak to a supervisor and then finally get an answer that applies to my question. I know I could work there and know more then 95% of them do!
Oh, one more thing I don't care for is the $5.00 referral deal - they can not tell you who signed up and it takes 3 WEEKS before you see it.

I've been signed up with c2it for several months and haven't had a problem. Had to call customer service twice when I started (couldn't figure out how to do something) and both times got a real person on the phone right away. And both times they were able to help.
Also, if you have a Citibank credit card (which I do), it's super easy. I just credit any payments coming in directly against the credit card. Works just fine.
I have had buyers say that they couldn't sign up. I don't know - I didn't have a problem with that myself.
I offer a $1.00 discount if the buyer uses c2it. (Can't charge extra to take PayPal but can offer a discount to use c2it.)
