Well, I didn't notice this yesterday because I didn't have auctions ending but today I had one. I went to email the buyer off the end of auction notice as I always do. (I click on the buyers email address and email it from there.) Well, to my surprise I couldn't use that feature, so I checked yesters EOA and it was the same. Maybe just maybe this is a test from ebay to see how good you can follow the rules. I had auctions end earlier this week and could use that feature. With that feature I know I will contact the buyer.

Copy and paste the email address into a new email.

I dont think this is a new Ebay service its a new Ebay bug they have changed there end of auction email and now even thee email is conected to a cookie if you notice the ebay EOA now has an attachment on them this I hear is a cookie attached to the email.

This is just another step in haveing no contact between buyer and sell, frist they limited seller to 6 email per day to buyers through the ebay mail server now they tied the email address in the end of auction notice to there mail system Cool huh !!!

Soon the email link in the notices will disapear and the only way to get the info will be from the checkout summary Oh you opted out of checkout you say hmm interesting..

there must be something coming that we dont know yet-ebay drives its revenue on auctions only so there must be some sign of earnings erosion, which is not surprising as less items get bids these days.
the way layoff news keep coming every day, folks are going to need the money for those rainy days-food and rent, not collectibles.
i will be doing my best to sell as much thru xmas, after that i am not sure i want to waste too much money listing if no one is buying

Actually there is nothing comeing, in fact the economy is on the rise the layoffs are fueling businesses recovery or a good part of it by makeing earning far better then exspected.

Sales on ebay havent dropped at all listings have incressed dramatically and everytime this happens there is more items for sale then buyers

you cant incress inventory and exspect sales to go up inless you did a good job of getting new buyers in ebay has had its advertizeing on the back burner for months now..

In december the auction numbers drop as many don't like to sell through the christmas rush and have many things in life to do to get ready for holiday entertaining sales will rise when number of listed item drops just like every year.

The big thing ebay is moveing toword is fixed price sales like it or not auctions are going to be secondary ebay stores and half.com are melting togeather.

Wow, I read that post 3 times and still can't make head nor tail of it. Guess some periods are missing, or something. Anyway, it is good to see that someone has ALL the answers. I'll go back and try to read them again, something might jump out at me.

We're in a recession, and sales on eBay will reflect this.

i dont buy that economy is on the rise and layoffs fuel recovery.
yes, when we reach the bottom,we have no place to go but up.
but we have not heard the horror story yet on recession ,it has not bottomed,in fact the 9/11 crisis found us a new bottom.
it is not over until the fat lady sings,we have never have so many first time homebuyers and delinquency rate is higher now than the early 1980s when interest rate went to the moon.
this is because there are more first time home buyers-who buy with no money down.
all that ZERO ZERO ZERO programs from auto industry is not going to be pretty when banks and loan companies ZERO in and repossess the cars.

You don't have to buy anything just watch Manufactureing

I work in plastic packageing industry orders and contacts are on the rise as well as order for new molds and tooling.

They have there ad out in new paper and trade magazines they are looking to hire 60 to 80 to start and thinking from the look of feture orders they will be needing more in january and febuary.

Travel Industry was hit very Hard yes But this ressesion started last july in manufactureing and things are starting to move up from where I am seeing it.

Manufactureing and the tech stocks were in a ressesion last Summer when everyone else was looking and laughing at the thought these industrys are looking toword recovery it may take most of next year for other industrys to see the improvment but where it started is seeing recovery.

As far as energy and gas prices if they can hold down the cost of oil and power for the next 18 to 26 months there is a replacement out there for the high cost of some energy just out on the market.

Ever heard of Plug power well they are makeing the equiment that will soon be powering many older homes and all new homes.

There device is small it converts natural gas or propane into electric power enough to make any home free from the local pwer grid and actually sell power back to the local power company.

these units cost from $2000 and up and will be powering home appartment building and even many businesses and the goverment is working on regulations that make it nessary for local power companies to buy the unused power from consumer.

plug power produces electric at 75% less then the cost it can be bought from your local power company and is 99.9% pollution free its main out put is water vapor.

on top of that there is the new hybyrd cars that run on battery and gas that are becomeing more well known and seen on the road..

I don't buy that economy is on an upswing line either. That's like telling an ugly woman that she's beautiful. She loves to hear that but knows it's a lie. Recessions don't develope overnight and this one is developing now at a slow pace. Hills and valleys maybe, but more valleys than hills. A recession feeds on itself and as more layoffs occur the masses get cautious and frightened and the layoffs increase. If ebay listing numbers increase it's because sellers need money more than ever.
It's good to be optimistic but it's also good to be realistic.

december should be a month with the highest number of listings, last year i have to constantly refresh my list to see what items have been bot using buy it now.of course after dec 16,the numbers keep dropping.
the checkout should be a good feature for both buyer and seller in time like xmas,it saves both parties time to email each other and troop to a payment service to make payment.
wonder if there will be a email traffic jam in cyberspace due to all these emails-ebay end of auction, ebay buyer request for total, seller emails buyer, paypal emails buyer, buyer pays via paypal.paypal notifies seller, buyer reminds seller she uses paypal, seller thanks buyer and confirm money received etc etc.

Well, I thought I saw the periods and don't really understand. Are we in a recession or not? Just joking. I am eternally grateful for what we have, but it seem my family is always in a recession. I will try very hard not to participate in this one, but then, like so many, many others, I didn't participate in the boom either.

Hey, I live in Texas where we have lots of natural gas and it is not that cheap. Of course, your guys outside Texas pay less for our natural gas than we do. Makes sense doesn't it?

I want tax breaks for solar energy apparatus. WE have lots of 'solar' in our part of Texas and it is free.

But back to Ebay. I didn't know there was a limit to how many emails - that's strange. I use my email address as my ID and was going to change it, maybe I won't. Of course, I do get a lot of questions through Ebay and people think when they go through Ebay it automatically references the auction - I had two this last week. Now come to think of it, both of them had asked when would I relist the item. But that won't keep me from emailing the customer as I now have their email address, or do I? See I'm confused.

Ebay has limited email contact through there service for people who use like send this auction to a friend link or to click the buyer or the seller email link in from the end auction or in there email to 6 per day.

once you have the email address of the buyer of the seller they can limit your email just mail sent from there server
