I am furious! Need to vent!

eBay canceled one of my auctions because the item had been recalled by the Consumer Protection Agency in 1995.

Only problem is, the item I had listed was manufactured in 1997, 2 full years after the original item had been recalled. They fixed the defect, and the item I had listed has never been recalled for any reason.

The really amazing thing is that I have listed and sold at least 30 of the same items as the one they just canceled! One sold just 2 weeks ago.

Even more interesting is the fact that at least 10 other sellers are currently running auctions for the item that HAD been recalled!
I just checked, and none of their auctions have been pulled! I was the only person who had an auction running for the item that had not been recalled!

Here's where I get a little paranoid and think Big Brother is truly watching us to make sure we behave and do business their way instead of the way we always have done business.

One week ago I canceled my Billpoint account.

The auctions I listed this week all had NO Checkout in them.

Coincidence? Maybe. But I seriously doubt it.

So, that leaves me to wonder if:
a) eBay pulled my auction because I canceled my Billpoint account

b) my auction was pulled because I had No Checkout in them

c) a competitor wanted to get my auction out of the way

I'm leaning towards one of the first two reasons, but of course, the third reason is also a possibility.

So, do I just ignore the No Checkout thing and go on listing as I did before? I'm not about to open a Billpoint account.

I'm also not going to join the ebay police and turn in all those other folks who ARE selling the recalled item.

OK, rant over.

Thanks for listening!

It's a coincidence - more than likely you got whacked by Goliath because another Davy turned you in.

Holdenrex is right. eBay relies on all the self-serving snitches to watch us.

OK, maybe someone did turn me in. &*%$#$!

Interestingly enough, it just so happens that someone had an auction end at the Buy It Now price for the RECALLED item just 2 hours after mine was pulled! If someone did turn me in to eBay to eliminate the competition, my money is on that guy!

Now, I have furnished eBay with proof from the Consumer Protection agency that my item has never been recalled. They say they will investigate. Probably take them a couple of years to figure out the difference.

Just suppose they agree with me. What do you suppose my chances are of having the auction reinstated? This is one of my best sellers, especially at Christmas time.

Should I hold my breath and hope that the drones at ebay decide they (gasp) made a mistake and reinstate the auction, or buy that swampland in Florida instead with all the money I save on listing fees and final value fees?

Has anyone ever had an auction reinstated after going toe to toe with eBay?

Can't you just try listing it again? They may not even notice.

(I probably don't know what I am talking about though.)

If an auction has been pulled, DO NOT relist it without clearing things up with ebay first.

If you do, you risk having your account suspended.

And don't be too sure it wasn't ebay who decided to pull the auction. If you have been even the least bit vocal on any of the ebay boards, you have a bullseye painted on your ID.

WOOO HOOOOO!

They really listened! They just sent me a message stating that they would reinstate my auction!

Score 1 for the little guy!

I knew better than to relist it without getting the OK from them.

Feeling a whole lot better about the whole thing now, but with all the info I provided them, it's the guys selling the recalled item that had better watch out now! I think this item is under scutiny for whatever reason (it's a toy, for goodness sakes)!

Can't believe they acted so quickly. There emails to me said it would take 2-3 days to investigate. It took less than 12 hours after my last email to them to win this one!

Maybe they figured it was the only way to get me to stop emailing them!

Nice going, and very nice to see that ebay is able to reverse its mistake.

I also think that your being forthright about the problem and not losing your cool was the right way to go about it. You were fortunate to have the needed documentation.

And yes, I agree it was most likely one of your competitors that made the inaccurate charge of your item being recalled. I would be thinking about returning the favor.
