I just read on a thread on a post by Jerry@ebay that in 24 to 48 hours that the changes to checkout will be finalized. You have to change your preferences in "My eBay" so the checkout button will not appear on your listings. The shipping instructions will still appear at the top when an auction has ended.

Thanks for the update.

I've been checking my preferences regularly, looking for the opt out link. Nice to know it will actually be there soon. LOL!

Here's the lowdown on all this, straight from eBay:

Although you can not remove Checkout from your listings at this moment, all sellers including yourself will be able to choose
whether or not to use Checkout in the next 24 to 48 hours according to upper management. I'll now explain how to disable this feature once these changes become official.

For auction listings, sellers will have the ability to choose whether or not the Checkout button appears on their closed View Item page. If a seller opts out of having the Checkout button displayed, there will also be no links to Checkout in the End of Auction email and My eBay, and the buyer will not be able to use Checkout for that transaction.

When the changes to Checkout are completed you will be able to choose not to display the Checkout button on your listings by changing your Checkout preferences on your "My eBay" preferences tab. If the Checkout preference is changed, it will apply to any item you list after that
point. Therefore, there is no need to update your Checkout preferences for every listing you submit to eBay. Also, you may change your Checkout preference at any time. To change your Checkout preferences please
follow the instructions below:

1. Go to your "My eBay" page.
2. Click on the Preferences / Set-Up tab.
3. Select the option to change your Checkout preferences. This will ensure all new listings will have the new Checkout preference you selected.

Sellers will also be able to continue specifying shipping costs, insurance, applicable tax, and specific payment instructions when listing an item, even if the seller chooses not to use Checkout. This
information will continue to be displayed in the Payment Details and Payment Instructions sections on the View Item page, but there will be no Checkout links. If a seller chooses not to add this information, a
message indicating that the seller has provided this information in the item description or will provide it after the listing ends will appear in these sections.

Please remember that this change has not been made yet. It will take a day or two to run some tests on the new Checkout changes. This will help us to ensure that the changes are released to the site as smoothly as
possible. We understand that Checkout and the upcoming changes to the Checkout process occur during an important time of year for our sellers and will make the changes as rapidly as we can with the least amount of
disruption.

Please keep an eye on the Announcements Board for more information on when the changes have been made to Checkout. You can reach the Announcement Board with the following link:

We apologize to you and all of the members of our selling community who may have been inconvenienced and will continue to do all we can to provide a better process for eBay sellers and buyers.
