I've been wanting to downgrade my Paypal account from premier back to a personal account. Can't find out what to do. Wrote Paypal help about a week ago, with no response. Could someone PLEASE tell me what to do? The fees are not worth me keeping it this way.

i believe paypal is phasing out personal account, you either upgrade or close your account.paypal has to pay mc/visa transaction fee every time you made a transaction,in the past those who have premier/business account have been subsidising you,NOW NO MORE!!!!!!!!
WE ARE ALL EQUAL,YOU PAY YOUR SHARE,WE PAY OURS.

I believe you misunderstood my question. I have a premier account & have been paying my FAIR share of the cost. My fees on my Paypal account added up to close to $100.00 last month. don't want to take credit cards anymore therefore I only need a personal account. I just want to know if I can downgrade it or do I have to close it & open a new account?

I had some questions when I upgraded last week. Because of some misleading answers I got in Email, I decided to downgrade within hours of upgrading. If you call the special number they give you, you can downgrade. I think you can only do this over the phone.

sorry,good luck to you.
but if they are getting rid of personal account, there is nothing to downgrade to.
there was a post a few days ago -someone has a personal account and received a notice somone sent her payment and to accept it,she needs to upgrade

Hi,

Users can downgrade their account once. I am not in the office today, but I can arrange to have it done ([email protected]).

Please keep in mind that personal accounts can't receive credit card payments without being upgraded.

I was wondering...were you PayPal Preferred? That could have been one way for you to effectively reduce the fees.

What's paypal preferred as opposed to paypal premier? I do a fair amount of paypal business so I can't be a personal account holder anymore, but when I upgraded my understanding would be that I'll only be charged the percentage fee for credit card purchases. Instead every transaction I have - even the ones where someone is using funds in their paypal account get charged the percentage and the flat fee. Am I signed up for the wrong account? (this is just a hobby for me - not my business).

Hi,

PayPal Preferred is a program where users can earn 1.5% cashback on purchases made with their debit card. The user agrees to list only PayPal in the auction listing, but they can state whatever they desire in the EOA notices.

Hi

My two cents ...

I believe PayPal is a great way to do business. Many of my customers pay on the spot and the money is sitting there fast.

It is all part of doing business.

it is hard these days to omit check out on your item page,i am afraid more and more sellers will learn to like it and we may all have to use it to please our customers.
i know some big sellers who sell many big ticket items may prefer to use their own cc processors, but for lower priced items,it does make sense.
amzn has one click similar to check out,i dont hear anyone fighting it

How can they get rid of personal accounts when most (paypal) buyers have that?

I fought paypal and paypal won! Upgraded yesterday. I think a buyers comment did me in. She said, "You accept paypal but no credit cards. Either you accept paypal or you don't! Do you take paypal or not?"

Buyers think Paypal = credit cards.

Plus, canceling twenty credit card payments a month started to get to be a hassle. Oh well, just jacked up my costs for all.

if they are using their own fund to send you payment, they are mostly sellers as well as buyers,i would think very few paypal members deposit fund into their paypal account so they can pay you??
