Just a thought..... I sell item x.y.z... You offer items a.b.c.... How about during the Christmas season us sellers offer other sellers an item or items we sell at our cost vs. the item or items you sell as sort of a barter or exchange. Of course, any variance would result in the buyer paying additonal costs/shipping charges. This would allow everyone to purchase or trade for an item at a nice price and cut out eBay in the process. Wadda you think??

COSY ARRANGEMENT IF BOTH PARTIES ARE HONEST WITH THEIR ITEMS-CONDITION,CONTENT.
dont forget without ebay, there is no one to go to for squabbles .or do we care since we are one big happy family.
one way to do it is to post a list of sellers who are willing to barter with what she /he has somewhere.
i could use a chinchilla coat to keep me warm

In addition to my regulat stuff I sell
I play Magic The Gathering as a hobby.
I also bid and sell cards.
It is an almost common practice for sellers to offer payment to be recieved in cards.
All of the hot cards have a standard Value to current players.
So if I bid on 3 mediocre cards or one of the HOT cards I can easily pay the seller with a HOT card of my own.
But that is a niche area where the value of all of the cards is well known. I am quite sure the Pokeman or baseball cards has the same kind of sellers. Even the beanie baby folks trade that way.
I don't know about widgets where each one is unique.
I had a bidder wanting to buy one of my *Merchandise* items and asked if he could pay with specific cards.
I told him I'd be more than happy to After Valentines day when I could personally afford to make that kind of trade.
