Yeah I got that too !!!

I Just closed my Ebay store, I really was a tough thing I think it helps incress auction sales some how but never sold anything out of the store so I couldn't justify paying $10 a month to keep it..

5 months my store Items got lots of views but never a single sale I figure I will keep my ears open if and when store sales there take off I will reopen it..

I am also debating this. My sales have been very sparse from the store.

Is there any evidence that ebay will promote the stores to any degree ?

It is dirt cheap listing in the store, but that is meaningless if you have no sales.

Well I was looking at some of the new details about the store it seems they have a promotion for featureing stores but the cost for this store featureing is $49 a month for a ebay pro store..

as I have been hearing many who are paying $49 rather then the $9.99 are getting buyers.

I have a problem with a URL of http://www.ebaystores.com/xxxxx, not very catchy.

It must really depend on your product. I sell as much in my store as I do in my auctions. In reality probably not but in 2 weeks I have had 50 sales from my store. I get better prices from it than at auction. People mostly use Billpoint to check out with. I know, that will not sit well with some of you but it does with me.

In two weeks I have more than paid for my store at .30 per listing and much more cause the prices are better.

I am adding items to my store all the time now and starting soon to have store only items to see if they sell there first before I try the auction.

As far as I know I only have the 9.99 store. Never been charged except for the .05 for a 30 day listing. I love that.

I'm closing mine too. For a free alternative, here is what I suggest:

Go to eBay.com, select Search, by Seller. In the bottom half of the form, you'll see a "Multiple Sellers" area. Use asterisk in the second "Search Title" box and your seller id in the "Multiple Sellers" box. The link you get from that is a listing of all your items automatically categorized for you.

That will be my "store" from now on. [ edited by sun818 on Dec 27, 2001 11:23 AM ]

sun818 - How do you do that? I tried what you said and nothing came up.

I have 190 items listed and nothing showed.

I'm paying $9.95 per month for my website, and I don't have to pay for each item I want to list there. Not only that, but my website sales outdid my ebay sales in the 4th quarter 100-1. My service is the first link listed on my links page http://newenglandcoinco.com/links_page.html if anyone is curious.

Interesting. How do you tell buyers about this function? Can you put that in the description? No books can compare to the knowledge one gets from this discussion board. Thanks all

I just closed my store, not much profit in it for me lately.. I hardly even get anybody looking at my store items right now. I think eBay needs to promote the stores more. I can always reopen one if I need to.

Now that search function is a great idea, I'm going to add that one to my auctions!

Thanks for the idea.

I don't get it. Weren't eBay stores supposed to be the draw to bring in big retailers to eBay? Weren't stores supposed to be the next generation of eBay sales? So far, I've heard no positive results.

I've looked at the IBM store a few times. All their stuff seems to sell, but they've got seriously bad feedback. Most *BIG* companies just don't have the speedy customer service necessary to succeed on eBay. The same can be seen on Half.com, Amazon, and other Marketplaces.

Auctions are time consuming and a lot of work, no matter what kind of automation software you use. Feedback relies on customer service, and a bunch of minimum wage drones usually aren't the kind of people you want dealing with online buyers.
