I have a customer that is driving me crazy.

He bid on on won a product of mine.

He went to my webpage and using the shopping cart paid for it with his credit card. He paid for the wrong item, but that item had the same price.

I got the order and sent him an email to confirm I was sending Item 2.

Withing a few mintutes of sending it I realized he had bid on Item 1 and guessed he made a mistake when ordering.

I send another email to say I would be sending Item 1.

He freaks out and starts send me emails to say he is a detective with the computer crimes unit of a police dept on the east coast and that I better not be ripping him off. He suggests I am not honest...yadayadayada.

The last email he sent me says he has may police friends in Canada where I live..not sure what he is meaning by that but to me it sounds like some sort of threat.

I have done nothing wrong ..I saw his error and am sending him the correct product. His credit card will be charged the correct amount.

As well he keeps send the headers from all my emails back to me..I guess he is just trying to be smart?

I confirmed he is who he says he is. I was thinking of calling the internal affairs office for the Police dept he works at and filing a complaint.

Any ideas how I should handle this?

I would appologize, offer a refund. offer to send the right item at the right price, and find out what he wants to resolve the situation. I know it is not your fault, but he doesn't care about that. Try to placate him.

He sounds like another one of those buyers who is a control freak.

Just remain factual and professional no matter how tempted you are to tell him to blow it up his a$$.

Sounds like he is a close relative to that doctor on the other thread.

Ask him exactly what he wants.

He bid on item #1
Paid for item #2

Ask him if he ordered off the website the wrong item.......does he want item #1, item #2 or both.

If he wants the one from your site then tell him he still owes you for the item he bid on.

Also in your email remind him about Ebays rules on threats and notify him that you are forwarding copies to safeharbor based on his threats to you.

I don't see his grounds for being an ass so quickly over his miscommunication to you.

If he is infact a COP (lol probably not) then he will be required to give you a phone number for you to call him over the matter. If he really is a cop then he would definately know better than to write to you the way he did. I would file a complaint at his precinct mentioning the time of his bid and the times of his emails..........he could be surfing Ebay on the clock............big no-no while working.

It's gotta be a misunderstanding on his part. I would calmly email him back with the facts...i.e. "you won my auction ##, but when you paid through my web site, in error you chose the wrong item. I am sending you the item that you won on the auction. If you want the other item, please pay $$ and I will ship the two items. I work very hard to ensure that all my customers are dealt with in a professional and honest manner, and would not want to lose any customer through a misunderstanding..." etc. The fact that you have a web site with online store adds credibility to your auctions, in my opinion, and most customers should recognize that.

Often all these customers need is a factual and detailed response addressing the entire transaction.

He is a cop.
Detective Computer Crimes with a Florida Police Dept. I have done some reserch myself on him.

He has and Ebay id with his work email that joined ebay in 2000 and 0 feedback.
He used buyitnow on my item with another email address that has zero feedback and joined Jan 1,2002.

I have 3500 feedback all positive.

I have asked him what he wants and that I just dont get his problem. He refuses to understand what happened.

I emailed him and suggested he take my emails and give them to another detective that he works with to explain to him.

I said in my email "what kind of dectective are you?" he replyed "One who has alot of detective friends in Canada"

I just pulled his contact info, as well I have his contact info at work now ...I think I will call him. This guy ticks me off.

If you are a crook then he is a crooked abusive cop with a tough guy overblown ego.

I would definately call at this point. Ask him WTF does he want, well in a nicer language anyways lol.

After you talk to him call back and talk to one of his superiors on his actions and abusing his badge.

"he is a crooked abusive cop with a tough guy overblown ego."

Why would you want to deal with this idiot??

Refund his $$, tell him to do his buying elsewhere. This guy is nothing but trouble.

Would not waste my time on this fool!

To hell with this guy. Send his money back and delete all further EMAILs. Typical Floridian. Anyone who gives me any grief I just ignore them and refund/relist. Life is too short and you don't need hollow threats from some Florida whack-job.
