Is it me, or was this the Christmas from Hell on Ebay?! I had more deadbeats during the season, than I had all year. Then, I got a neutral for "silver" flaking off of a solid pewter item. THEN, I get a negative for inflated shipping, when in fact, I went in the HOLE .85 on the shipping. The woman wrote me a letter aplogizing after she received the package. Lot of good that did me! I think the nimrods are just drawn to my stuff!

No, it's not just you. I have had a ton of deadbeats...still waiting for payments on some, sent some FVF. I received a neg for selling a used video that wasn't rewound and another neg but her comments were "great seller would buy from again..." When I questioned her about the neg she said she pushed the wrong button. Meant to leave a positive...that's pretty hard to do when ebay gives you an extra page in big red letters "you are about to leave a negative feedback, are you sure you want to contine?" So those are 2 of my 3 negatives total out of 1600 positives. Sheesh... But I think total this Christmas I had about 30 deadbeats - I usually just have 4 or 5 a month.

Same with us! Tons of deadbeats. Mostly from the second week of December on. Normally have maybe 1-4 a month but this month so far over 20! Also we deal in collectibles and I think a lot of "kids" bid when they were off for Christmas vacation! And hope sales picks up real soon!

Oh, yes! When it rains it pours.

I hadn't filed a NPB in over 6 months until someone went on a bidding spree just before Christmas. They bid on 25 of my dutch autions for a total of 91 items. OUCH!

I haven't heard from them since the night of auction close. About an hour after I emailed the WBN, they contacted me through eBay requesting a total. I sent it and received no reply. I sent it yet again and received no reply. I sent it again and they finally acknowledged receipt and said they would be sending a money order. That was 3 weeks ago. I did not receive a reply to the payment reminder or the 25 NPB alerts.

I am now just a few days away from filing for FVF credit. I noticed they have a few fresh negs in the last few weeks for non-payment. No use waiting around for nothing.

I didn't have any deadbeats because I didn't list after Dec 1. I started again Jan 1 so I guess I missed all the fun

A number of my buyers got that virus that was going around ebay last month. Could be that it destroyed some of their records which resulted in being unable to reply to emails? I know it caused some of my customers to be slow in paying, although I did collect from all of them except one, and he has explained the problem and promised to pay. Just a possibility....

I have had more nonpaying bidders in the last 2 months than in the previous 2 years combined. There are also see more deadbeats that have collected many neg feedbacks all of a sudden. Maybe they have been raptured out of here, leaving behind lots of unfinished ebay business.

Same here--slow sales and lots of deadbeats. And yes, nasty ones too. I think we're experiencing 9-11 fallout. People have had to be nice to each other for a few months. Now they can get back to being their usual cranky selves.

Sorry to hear all the gloomy reports here.

Just earlier today, I was thinking about how fortunate I was to not have a single NPB through the whole Christmas season - haven't had any since the Summer. I had one buyer who got pretty close to being a deadbeat, but one day before I was going to leave a neg and request a FVF credit, he contacted me and paid with Paypal. My sales have been doing as expected or better lately too - higher than normal sell-through rates, higher than expected prices, and even a bit of repeat business which is unusual for my auctions.

Am I the only one (besides Libra) to not have a Christmas selling season from hell?

Well, if I answered this yesterday I would have a different story...but today the sun is shining!

I sell as well as buy. On the buying side, I didn't get two items I won and promptly paid for via paypal. After no response to multiple emails for 50 days after the auction I filed fraud claims with ebay, filed for credit with paypal and negged the sellers. Tonight I got paypal payments from both sellers. That is a first for me. Now I wish I could do a response to my feedback on them to at least say they came through with credits (notice I didn't say I would change the neg feedback, just add add'l comment).

On the selling side...only two bidders failed to come through with payments. And it is okay because I've relisted and I'm hopeful they will sell at higher prices.

So two buying versus two selling means I break even. And now with the two refunds, I am definitely ahead!

90% newbies winning my auctions which is a good sign, but some tend to be vindictive. In the last month I got a neutral feedback because I "should have paypal link in checkout." A negative "because checkout says shipping is $0.00 (That's ebay's error, besides Terms does say buyer pays fixed shipping), and I charged $3.50. Another negative because I didn't respond to the buyers fifty emails on the first day after auction ended, which was the weekend anyway.

Anyway, I send all these pathetic feedbacks to Meg to show what a wonderful system it is that she claims it to be.
