Sellers: You know you're gonna have problems when...

*the buyer's response to the first WBN is to reply (with history) to the WBN with a request for auction total and paying info...and no buyer posted info in AW.

*the buyer's response (with history) to the second WBN (customized by this point) is to again request auction total and paying info in a very frustrating email...still no buyer posted info in AW.

*the buyer's response to the third customized WBN is to inform you 'payment sent'...still no buyer posted info in AW. Personal check arrives, but there is no auction number and no printout of the auction.

*the buyer responds to the WBN by complaining about the shipping costs which were posted in the auction's TOS.

*the buyer fails to pay after two weeks and fails to respond to numerous payment reminders...but promptly responds in a negative manner via email when you start the non-paying bidder alert process.

*the buyer chooses not to have insurance but expects full refund when the item arrives damaged and the TOS regarding insurance are clearly stated.

*the buyer expects full refund when the item arrives as described but they failed to read the auction description which clearly stated ..has chips, hairlines, etc. And the buyer acknowledges they didn't read the description closely!

*the buyer gives one of the following excuses for non-payment: my hard drive crashed/died/quit, been in the hospital, been out of town, and my personal favorite: there has been a death in the family. Oddly enough, their bidding and selling history shows activity during the non-paying period!

Think I'll try a Buyers: Ya Know You're Gonna Have Problems When...!

I had one recently.

The item was a book which closed at $1. Buyer got a great deal, I thought.

I had to resend the WBN twice (making a total of three times). Among the claims that my invoice didn't arrive, buyer sent a request that I lower my shipping charge ($3 as stated in ad) since we both live in the same state. I ignored that email.

After three weeks, I filed a NPB alert, and of course the buyer contacted me immediately to say she never got the WBN. At that point I said I would not lower the shipping. Buyer got nasty, and also refused to pay eight cents sales tax (also stated in ad) until I provided my reseller number.

I notified the buyer that the deal was off because her payment was so late, and we traded negative feedbacks.

I don't know why people feel they are justified in wasting so much of a seller's time over a small auction such as this. Buyers should understand that a bid is a binding contract, not a license to haggle after the auction ends. My guess is these people have nothing better to do.
