At one time, AOL users could register on Ebay without putting a credit card on file.
Does anyone know if that is still the case?
Most of my non-paying bidders this year have had AOL addresses & sunglasses.

you can register with out a credit card if you pay to be verfided through a verfication service I believe but this has nothing to do with AOL its an option any new user has.
would have to providea load of personal information to the verification company for ebays use at a cost of $15 Ithink they charge.
How ever I should add to Register as a seller on ebay you now must give your checking info for ebay payment services you can still cancel mambership after you are registered that to I think will change soon the payment service will be manditory...
in any case credit card verification don't work never has it don't gaurentee your bidder will not be a dead beat since ebay does not get the payment or fees from the dead beat any how there is no monitary risk to being a dead beat !!!!

Anyone can get an AOL addy with a free trial CD, sign up on eBay and deadbeat some eBay sellers before needing another ID. With multiple screen names, you can do quite a bit of damage inside of a single trial period. Sign up later with "new contact info" and you can do the same thing.
