Being original can be really neat, but not that, way too wacky for me.
And, his item sounds downright dilapidated.

The whole thing is a mess.

How did this guy get a rating of 73?
Must sell to a lot of young buyers who think that kind of dribble is neato!

Look for eBay to shut this one down.

I don't agree with the seller's terms, but he is being honest and up front. He probably said what a lot of sellers would like to say. As a bidder, I'd read it, have a good laugh and move on.

Advertising the fact that there is an additional fee for Paypal use is one quick way to get NARU'd.

Yep, charging a PP fee is against eBay's TOS, just like posting links to live auctions is against AW's TOS (unless it's been changed recently and I'm not saying it hasn't been changed)

Personally, I feel we should be allowed to pass the fee along, just like PayPal and BillPoint pass the fee along to us. I am sure part of their "fee" to us includes what the cc companies charge them for taking the cards!

Edited to avoid confusion about my position. [ edited by sulyn1950 on Feb 27, 2002 08:27 AM ]

I don't think so, the auction is still valid, just the pictures aren't showing up.

Actually, I just went and reported him and three of the auctions I included in the report came back as having already been reported.

I guess that since he has been reported he will have to stoop to recovering PP fees through auction prices or shipping, like the sellers he criticizes. Too bad.

Have a heart!

The poor dude only has one auction with a bid and that's for only a buck!

Most seller's know you can't charge a fee for PP, most buyer's know you can't charge a fee for PP. If they don't, they will find out soon enough (without eBay even having to get involved).

I love it when I get a buyer who also sells and if they use PP, they just add extra for the fee. I have had that happen several times and believe me, those buyers got extra special FB!

I have even started doing it myself especially when I have made a good buy and the "shipping/handling" isn't overly high (the number one spot for "hiding" PP fees).

Actually, it's very hard to "hide" a PayPal fee in handling.

Since the fee is a PERCENTAGE and you don't know the amount until the auction is over.

I don't charge for PayPal fees, I eat those costs. But as a wise seller, since I'm giving PayPal away for free, I cannot afford to give handling away for free as well. So I charge for reasonable shipping and handling.

If we were allowed to charge Paypal fees to customers, then I might be able to give something different away. It all balances out.

But I do not HIDE my PayPal costs in handling. Because even those who don't pay with PayPal still get charged a proper and legitimate handling fee (usually about $0.50 or so).
