I'm finally at the point where I need a backup battery for my Mavica 73. I'm looking for the best price (of course).

Mine says Model No. NP-F330. Thanks in advance!

Circuit City sells a Duracell model which will fit your camera. I believe it $50 and it lasts 5 hrs. Its lithium ion. Sony's replacement for 3 hrs is $60.

Hi. Did a search for you, and I came up with this.

AtBatt.com $38.95 didn't get the warranty

eBatt.com $41.95 12 month warranty.

If you don't like those prices I search Yahoo under sony battery and there were some others.
I don't think those prices are so bad.

keep in mind if you buy the longer life battery you will probably have to replace the charger also

thats what happened to me last summer I bought the eveready battery on ebay ,when I got it it was charged when I went to recharge my orginal sony charger wouldnt do it
I bought the heavy duty charger ..also on ebay and it worked great

I paid a little over 50.00 for both pieces on ebay

I
spock here......

I appreciate your suggestions.

Libra: I've noticed how helpful you are to people, and you've really gone out of your way on this question with the research! I went to the first one you recommended but the price that came up was $48, not $38, oddly enough. The dilemma I have is that some of the ones that come up don't indicate that they're official Sony products, and I'm worried that I may have to get another charger, as Mrspock mentioned. It's hard for me to tell if the batteries listed are extended extra-long play or just regular, like the one that came with my Mavica 73.

no need to buy another recharger.....if so, then the recharger is the problem not the battery...

roadsmith-There are two of them At.Batt one by them and one by another maker. I just took the first one. See what happens when you don't read.
Thanks for your kind remarks. I really enjoy searching and reading so if there is a challange I like to do it. I know there are some of you that don't have the time and since I do I will try and find it. Do you have a sony outlet store near you? If so they might stock it and then you should get a good price also. That is how I got my Mavica for $199.99 Love it, I should have gotten it earlier. Much easier than scanning everything.

I got mine at Walmart, they don't carry the smaller 330, I got the 550.

Not my name on ebay.

I bought a Sony HandyCam camcorder before Christmas, and my camcorder uses the same battery as your camera.

I bought an extra NP-F330 battery off eBay for around $35-ish -- I couldn't find one anywhere else at the time. It was the genuine Sony brand.

Sony's website carries the larger-capacity batteries. It's at http://www.sonystyle.com

Not that there's anything wrong with a different-brand battery; I just wanted to stick with Sony.

Thedewey: Thanks! Holy Smoke. I'm slapping myself upside the head right now. Why didn't I think to look at eBay for a battery???!!! And now I've searched and found several new battery listings there. I'm ONLY a seller on eBay and hadn't thought to look there. Duhhhhh.

in my real job, I sell electronics....the 330 is standard with mavica and now older camcorders...if you bought one on ebay it was used... even when you order the 330 as a part from sony, they send the 550....paying $35 is not a good deal for a 330 since it will max out at 90 minutes...once again there is a duracell model dr5 which sells for $50 retail and you get 5 hours worth...550 (3hrs) cost retail $60.... I sell the duracell like hot cakes during xmas as an extra battery...I have yet to see one come back...

Well, the Sony NP-F330 battery I bought from eBay was brand new, in the package. (???) It works perfectly. I don't know where the seller got them, but it was a Dutch auction, and like I said, the batteries were brand-spanking new.

I did also buy a larger battery for use in the camera itself; I just wanted an extra smaller battery to power the infrared nightshot accessory.

Edited to add: I just looked up the seller I bought mine from, and he/she is currently listing more of them. If you'd like the seller's name, drop me an e-mail at [email protected] (not sure I can post the seller's ID here).

By the way, I'm in no way associated with this seller other than being a happy customer.

Update! As suggested by "thedewey", I went to eBay and there were lots of my batteries for sale. I bought a new one, in package, with 1-year warranty, for about $38 plus $6 shipping. If it isn't a good one, or isn't truly new, I'll find this thread and update again. In the meantime, I'm happy with my purchase!
