Was doing a Search to see how Much one of the High-End Fragrances I sell was going for of Recent in other seller's Auctions. Found an Auction Title that Matched MINE WORD FOR WORD. Took a Peek.... HEY, That's MY Photo!!! What's Funny is I Take some Pretty Crummy Digitals (Got a CHEAP Camera), and they Took it...Me thinks BECAUSE it is of the Retail Product, NOT The Tester or Sample that is Frequently auctioned off on eBay. They were auctioning a Tester, yet the Product pictured is The RETAIL item (Trust me there is a Difference), and MY Item to Boot. Emailed them asking "Where did you get the Photo, Looks Like the Retail Item??". Also emailed the winning Bidder to let them Know they would NOT be getting the Pictured ITEM. Hopefully that ends That, BUT you NEVER know.

You are aware that you committed auction interference, which could make you NARU. You can't email bidders of other peoples auctions for ANY reason.

Just email [email protected], and if they are using the photo off of your hosting site, change the picture to something else.

html script to prevent pictures from being stolen, found at coolebaytools.com, the site run by Marsha Collier, author of "Starting an ebay Business for Dummies"

Well, I had my first pictures "borrowed" by a relatively new seller (FB 7) and I was soooo excited!

I have been working really hard at improving my images because I still use a scanner. Works pretty good for what I sell. I have been experimenting and trying different things I have read up on and I have been very pleased with the improvement.

When I saw my images (I always put a title on my images but not my sellerl ID, I probably will start doing that now) I couldn't believe it. I did email the seller and told her I was very flattered she thought them good enough to use in her auctions, but since we sell a lot of the same things it would be better for her to email me ahead of time if she was going to be using my scans so I would be sure and not list the same item at the same time.

So far, I haven't heard from her....

You have to make sure that you are not charged to use those pictures. If you list from auction watch you probably will be charged for using them. Yes, I would call that stealing. There are too many people that want to make the money but to lazy to do the work. Here you do the work, they get paid and then you pay.

Why should you even care?

Unless they are linking directly to your server and soaking up your bandwidth, I dont see how you are hurt by it.

Sure its annoying to see sellers misrepresent thier items by using fake photos, and seeing them get off without doing the work you did, but there really isnt anything that could ever be done about it.

If they DID link directly to your photo, just replace the photo with some gay porn. That should teach them a lesson.

Hey Classics-- you don't mind if I set up a table and some chairs on your front lawn and have some friends over for a few beers, do you? I mean, as long as we're not coming into your house it's not hurting anything, so you shouldn't mind, right?
My time is money, if I spend an hour getting a picture *just right* only to have you copy it in 3 seconds to use on your own auctions, then you are *stealing* from me, and nothing you can say or do will convince me of anything different. And as for saying there isn't anything I could do about it, all I have to say is "wanna bet?" There's *plenty* I could do, none of which I can mention here hehe

BTW-- that "no right click" script mentioned above is completely useless & not worth the time copy/pasting it into your auctions--anyone who knows how to right click to save an image should also know how to find an URL to an image in the view/source HTML of any auction page.

classics: in the spirit of PC, I'd recommend substituting some good MONKEY-PORN! -- then ya don't have to worry about insulting anybody...

OTOH...there's always PETA...or is that PITA?

Visit one of my auctions on eBay (my user ID is *****) and try to steal one of the pictures I've taken for my auctions. You won't be able to! To accomplish this magic, you need to insert a code in your description.

***************

Marsha needs to go back to the drawing board. This script is completely useless!

slabholder---

Not trying to be a jerk, but I clicked on the link you posted and went to your auctions.
Are you sure you're implementing the script correctly? I had no trouble saving a few of your pictures. Of course, I don't plan to use them, but a couple of them made me blush

Just kidding....I never knew dolls could be so attractive!!!

Oops....I didn't read the last sentence of that
post......sorry to confuse you with Marsha.

It's always Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!!

Honestly, though, I wish sellers would show a little modesty when displaying their dolls.
Perhaps ebay should move them to the ADULT category
