I haven't looked at the message forums for quite a while. I just got sick of the same group of people bashing any newbies that asked a "dumb question" or even experienced users who posted an opinion that "the old guard" didn't like! Sometimes it was amusing to watch all the egos collide as a result but most of the time it was depressing and disheartening, especially when some folks who seemed rather nice got rebuked for not sharing the opinion of the very vocal and vicious back-biters, or worse, asking an innocent question.
Anyway.....decided to relent and read a few posts to see if anything had changed, and Lo and Behold! The moderators seem to have been dismissed! What happened?? Did quiltcottage or whatever her name was and the rest of her cronies run them outta town??

They fired the inmates too. Just us folks here on the message boards keeping the whole thing afloat.

I nominate nycyn and Jerry12 as moderators.

Most all of the old crowd left one day. But don't worry, we still fight and pounce on a few victims, just not daily anymore.
Welcome back.

It always cracks me up when someone makes a bashing post, complaining of bashers.

Heck, Heritage, I've been posting here since May 1999. I've seen a lot of changes, and a lot of posters come and go. I don't bash. I've never even bashed eBay. How's that for self control.

It is true that it was like in ONE day a bunch of people left, same time as the Moderators left.
IF I remember right, I think there was a fee increase here and at the same time they announced they were letting the Mods go. A whole crowd got their feathers ruffled and went over to the "OTWA"??, whatever it's called I can't remeber, someone will jump in and correct that. But if you go over there in those forums, you'll find most of 'em.

Yeah, because those of us who didn't use AW services just lurked until we ABSOLUTELY had to respond to a post. Then we broke down and gave AW our CC info....

Hi:
There were no charges,or fee increases. When AW decided to not moderate these boards, everyone was asked to drop their masks and show their faces. Well the old crowd didn't like that so they left in a huff! But if you take notice they are returning, slowly, one by one.Guess they just can't stay away. This must be one of those places you just love to hate.

And obviously there is no credit card required. I think the mods made that line up themselves. I never gave them any credit card number to post here. If you have been gone that long you must not have either.

I also left on November 1st, but after two weeks came back because even though many of the original posters are gone it's still the best message board on the internet.

JACKSWEBB Yes, you do have to give a credit card number to post. If you didn't, it was an oversite on AW's part. How long you've been here has nothing to do with it, I've been here forever & I had to give my number.

heritage
hart cottage quilts left long before November 1st. She is at OTWA.

Ah!!! then this must have been free for anybody at the time,,,,,,,,just to post. But I did sign up so I could list my auctions. Obviously I gave them my credit info back then (2 years ago)which gave me the "free" hahahaha, Message center rights. Notice how eveything on the internet is "free" till you use it. And then all the other "free" things they do for you after you give them $29.99 per month. hahahahahha. Which brings to mind, read a "me" page the other day,,,,,,the buyer refered to it as her "free" page. hahahaha. Not too worry,,,,,I am sure one day that will be an added pay service.

The mods still come around once in a while. Post a link to a competimg auction helper website and watch it disappear.
I think Joice caught on as a domaintrix at an S&M palace somewhere. Better pay and lotsa perks.

This place IS a lot quieter than it used to be. I originally was not going to give them my cc number, but decided I did not like the other boards enough, so I did it and stayed here. My guess is though that many of the new posters are ones who signed up for their services, and who had credit cards on file already. I doubt many people surfing in here would leave that info.

I also like it more without moderators. We could never list ebay auctions before, and sort of had to walk on pins and needles - This is a much better format...

At one time AW was free to list auctions. It's still free to post, but on November 1st AW required a credit card for identification.
You wouldn't be charged, but you had to give a credit card number. A lot of posters didn't want to do that so they left, I did too.

I'm with ahc3 on why I came back, it's still the best & that's why I gave AW my CC number.

Anyone who signed up when AW started charging
had already given their CC number so their posting privledges were never suspended.
