Hi~
I am seriously considering going to the LAS VEGAS trade show in August. After the show I plan to go on to California and visit family.
Questions:
**Never been to a trade show before...what proof do I need to bring? I have a sales permit for my resale shop...anything else?
**Does it cost anything to go in?
**Do you place and pay for orders right then?
**Do they give away samples freely? (Like if I think I might want something but want to think about it.)
**Any tips on what to do and not do?
**Is it worth going to?
**Anyone have an inexpensive hotel they know of?

Sales permit and/or business cards are good. I don't think the one in Las Vegas charges to enter (They just had one that ended today) - You can place orders there. Here is something that you may not know. These companies don't want to bring the samples back. My parents who also do ebay go to the show and can "buy out" and entire booth on the last day at a substantial discount. It helps to be local for that. Enjoy the show!

If you are talking about the ASD show, it is best to pre-register on there website as you will incur large lines. They will send you your tags in the mail and all you have to do is show a business card and get your name tag holder.
Since this is a very large show, it will take at least 3 days to see everything. The upper level is for new type items and the lower level is more clearance items.
Take plenty of business cards!
Do not let them know what you are doing, they are not interested in low volume buyer, just talk number of accounts or customers. Dicker with them on price. There show price is never there best price.
Of course this applies to any show.
I was a buyer for a national company for 10 years and attened these shows all the time.
They also have one in Chicago, but it is not as big.
