When I qualified to become a power seller, I accepted the invitation because well I don't know really. I read here about it being no big deal, no benefits, etc.

I also know haw many bidders are turned off by the power seller logo. So I opt not to have that on my auctions and figured being a power seller was my little secret.

NOT NO MORE!

Thanks to ebay! They now have a power seller icon next to my feedback star! Grrrrr!

I personally think that it is a plus. To me it demonstrates a sellers credibility and knowledge.

I would love to be able to sell that kind of volumne. But despite having a resellers liscense and being a ligit business I cannot seem to find suppliers who are "really" wholesale. As we all know, everyone is wholesale but you can get it cheaper at Walmart.

Perhaps I'll figure this all out eventually.

After reading the info in the clickable icon....I can opt out of having this icon show.

It appears to this is to help identify all those sellers that steal the ebay power seller logo.

I says you can not use the logo in descriptions and such if you opt out of having the icon.

I just noticed this too!

F'ing eBay, they just can't stop monkeying around with stuff, and something like this they should've e-mailed people to let 'em know or something.

I've been at power-seller level every month now for over 4 years. I've never shown a logo or any other mention of it in my auctions, not once! I'm just one person, no helpers, not a wholesaler. And my choice has always been to NOT flaunt that in front of people's faces. Now, all of a sudden, there it is in all my auctions --- what a crock from eBay, no warning or consideration whether I wanted this or not!

At least it is good news to see here that apparently I can opt out, but it is still vaguely b.s.

I love selling on eBay & the market it opens to me, and I'm doing better than ever at it, but the management attitudes of the company really irk you sometimes.

I am like you. I work be myself, no helpers. I NEVER told any bidders that I am a powerseller. I always thought the fact I have monthly sales at least $2000 a month is no ones business but mine.

I looked for the opt out and could not find it. Then I noticed the icon was gone. I am sure it will be back. They must be experimenting. I clicked it and some of the page links were not there either.

The new icon will begin to appear next week, and PowerSellers can change their preferences in My eBay at that time.

They will be working on it all this week.

They did email Powersellers about 2 weeks ago announcing this and explaining how to opt out.

Take time to read your email instead of being so hostile.

I have NEVER got a powerseller email in the past year. I signed up to be a powerseller and was looking forward to see the powerseller newsletter, which I have yet to receive.

I have emailed them several times. They told me to check my options in my preferences. I have everything mark to send emails to me.

I emailed them telling them that and they said it takes time to be added. It is a year now and I am still waiting!

I get all kinds of email from ebay but never anything regarding powersellers. They don't seem to care either!

Dear JB,

Don't be so condescending, I do this full-time & read every e-mail, this is my business after all, never got it.

I received the Power Sellers newsletter about 2 weeks ago and it fully explained the icon. In any case, I know for a fact that when I display the Power Sellers logo, I get more bids and page views. Many people feel that this is not a good thing to display but if all those people just tried it, they would be happier with their sales. As in a previous reply to this message, it adds credibility to the seller.

I also received the Power Sellers newsletter about 2 weeks ago and it fully explained the icon. Simply change your preferences and eliminate it if you are not in favor of it. It does not seem to be anything to loose sleep over. Use the energy to develope and increase sales.

Sarah - After I had my 3 months in a row to qualify it took ebay about 45 days to invite me to join.

Before I had it - I wanted it too (LOL). Why, who knows. It's not like it gets you anything! When I was invited I was THRILLED! I finally made it. I just wish it came with discounts on listing (HA HA HA)

I will never make it to the next level!
And it will take forever for me to get the next feedback star. Most of my winning customers are repeat buyers!

How does the power seller logo help you to get more page views?

eBay sends email invitations automatically to qualified members on a monthly basis. If you have received an invitation, or would like to see if you have qualified, click on the registration link now!

http://cgi1.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?PowerSellerRegisterShow

I got mine that way.

If that did not work it is from the bottom of the power sellers page at http://pages.ebay.com/services/buyandsell/powersellers.html

The Power Seller icon has been on display now for awhile. Here are my comments.

I specialize and sell only in a few categories. I am not a volume seller. Most of my items are antiques. I have gotten to know the other eBay dealers who specialize in my areas over the past few years, well enough that we net-work and communicate with each other several times a week. What is consistent about those of us who are Power Sellers is that we list 50-100 items a month, that is all. We make $2000 easily and our normal gross is about $4000 to $6000.

Since the Power Seller icon was put next to our ids and feedback numbers, we have noticed an increase in bidding consistently over the life of the auction, an increase in multiple auction bids and an increase in bids during the first six hours of the auction.

Whereas the sellers in the same categories who do not have Power Seller status are experiencing a big drop in bids, particularly from new users. Today I got two phone calls from friends who are not Power Sellers, who have listed auctions in the past few days and these sellers don't have a single bid. I looked at my listings and the listings of the other Power Sellers in my categories and we have bids on all of our auctions.

Just some observations, useful information if you sell antiques, but not useful if you sell books, used clothing or inventory close-out items.
