I sell items that range between $5 and $10...using Gallery would about double my insert cost.....is the sell through worth it?

I feel it's a big asset. I will not list with out it. Even $1.00 items. It's the biggest attention getter at the least amount of money.

If you sell related items I think it's important to at least put a few in the gallery as it may draw bidders to your other auctions also.

Just bumping back to top. I'd like to hear more opinions as I'm only selling approximately 30% of my listings and wondered if that would help. But, my Ebay bill is so high now it is scary to think about adding to it.

I use the Gallery for all my auctions. If they go unsold and have to be listed again, I don't use the Gallery. As a bidder, I always notice the auctions that have Gallery thumbprints - first.

I was using it for all my items. However if you add up all yours cost between E-Bay, Auction Watch, and PayPal. Your not making anything on low priced items. So I am picking and choosing which item get Gallery Images. Haven't noticed a big drop in sales.

Not sure what the real advantage of this is. I think if someone finds your auction, seeing a little pic before opening the auction probably won't get someone who is really interested in bidding to view the auction. I don't use it.

Yep. Big difference for me. Started combining with BIN. Higher bids, more bids, more viewers. 99% sales last month. Was able to raise minimum bids.

I run 200 - 400 auctions at all times and use the thumbnail on all my auctions.

I calculate it this way. It cost me $25.00 to run 100 auctions with the thumbnails. If by doing this it results in only a couple of sales then it's paid for itself.

Also 98% of my auctions are BIN for an additional 0.05¢ so I know up front that any auction I post is going to be 0.30¢ in addition to regular listing fees.

I read AW daily and seldom post. I'm always seeing people complaining about slow or no sales. My sales are brisk every day of the week so I must be doing something right.

To each his own, but it works for me.

A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS. FOR.25 I KNEW IT DAY ONE WHEN I CAME TO E BAY, 750 FEEDS AND 3000 SALES AGO. .25 IS NOTHING. THE HIGHER MY E BAY BILL THE MORE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I AM MAKING! LIKE THE GUY ABOVE SAID ,,,,,,,,,,,TO EACH HIS OWN.

It's the ONLY fee I feel OK about paying to any of my service providers. Definately worth
it! I primarily sell, but I buy my share too.
When I am scouring through the hundreds of listings ( usually around midnight), my tired eyes appreciate the thumbnails. I almost don't read the any of the listings titles, I am just looking for an interesting picture that catches my eye.

I'll usually use "Gallery" for unusual, one-of-a-kind items. For items that folks might search a specific name (ie: Kodak slide projector), I won't. I figure interested buyers will find my auction just using the "search" feature. Just my thinking...and I've found those quarters can add up!

I've stopped using the gallery and use BIN instead. I haven't noticed any drop in sales. I pay less per listing (for insertion)and the average price we are getting per listing is up almost 50%.

Can't beat that!

I sell Olympic pins. They do not photograph or scan well. If I get a good scan and the small picture shows what the item really is, I pay the $.25. Most of the time the picture only shows what it is when seen large, so I don't pay the extra money. On special items, I make sure I get a great scan. That can take a while, but it is usually worth it.

as a seller I almost always use it. as a buyer, I look at the ones with the thumbprint first. If I find something I want there, I don't even look at the others.

I have put 2 of the same item on, one with, one without. the one with sold for 3 times the one without sold for. you do the math.

I would rather list in two categories than have a galery icon. Again, I don't see that it makes that big of a difference.
