I have been accepting paypal forever and I love the convenience but am planning on putting on about 1000 items that will all sell for less than $5.00, I just don'think I an afford to accept paypal payments for these. Should I just put in my desc that I only accept paypal for transactions under $10 (also hoping to get multiple bidders). Do you think I will loose a lot of bids or that people will even read this on my auctions???

How about accepting BillPoint? Their fee (for a $4.99 item) is about .35 cents, and PayPal's fee for the same item would be .59 cents. Also, you could add .35 cents to your shipping & handling fee to cover the BillPoint cost.

I don't know how you are figuring paypal's fees: for a $4.99 payment it is only 41 cents. You do have a great idea but jumping the shipping up an additional 40 cents or so to cover the fees. Then it would balance out for the % of people that do paypal vs mailed payments.
Must have had a mind block for not thinking of that.
Thanks

Yeah, increase handling fee. Paypal is really annoying on the small amounts - same with people who put a $5 purchase on a credit card. I hate to penalize everyone, but I have started to increase my shipping fees because of this, so many people pay with paypal.

When Paypal offered the "Refund Payment" option I started a $5 mininum. I have lost some bids but I would rather lose .30 than .35 and not have the item anymore.

I think you're expecting too much of people to understand no paypal. It sounds too much like "YES WE ACCEPT PAYPAL."

I, and many other buyers, would certainly rather pay the paypal fee than mail the payment. On a small sum it's only a few cents more than the postage. So I'd recommend building it into the TOS somehow. I'm not sure exactly which (if any) methods won't afoul of paypal's surcharge bans, but if you bump the s&h figure by .50 and offer a .50 discount for mailed payments, would probably pass.

Perhaps this is simplistic, but here goes. When you are listing an item under $10, do not include PayPal as a payment option. Leave it out of your WBN also. If the bidding goes over $10, or whatver limit you set, you can advise buyer in the WBN that PayPal is an option.

I have a merchant account but for Ebay auctionsI must input credit card info manually. This is very time consuming so I was wondering is it worth it to use billpoint or paypal?
