so who is telling the truth? according to the usps.com, their tracking shows not only was it delivered, but it was delivered to her front door, as the site actually displays the item being delivered to her home street address. but she claims she didnt get it. Who should i believe? the buyer has been with ebays since 1998, but hasnt bought anything since 1999, only has a feedback of 2.

I would tell her to take it up with the postoffice unless it is a cheapo item and then it might be easier to just pay her and move on. Depends on the tone of her emails.

If the DC shows delivered I would believe that. Doesn't mean the buyer received it. If it was just left at the address anyone could have come along and picked it up. I have had DC packages left in my mailbox if they weren't insured over $50 or requested a signature.
Since the DC is scanned, if they didn't have a bar code to scan at the receiving end, it couldn't show up as delivered. So that's pretty good indication it was at least at the delivery point.
I would send her the DC number and point her to the USPS tracking site and let her see for herself. Then, I would recommend she notify her local PO since they are claiming they delivered and she is claiming they didn't, she needs to let the PO know they have a problem.

some folks live in an apt complex and the doorman could have accepted it and kept in a lcoker room or a leasing office has accepted it.
our postman never bother to deliver any package to me,he just leaves me a pink slip and leave the package at the leasing office.i could be home all day,he never bother to come to door.
why makes life difficult for himself??
we get what we pay for, usps service versus fed exp or ups?

Delivery Confirmation does not mean it was placed in the buyer's hands, or even in the buyer's mailbox. One of my neighbors brought me a box one day that the mailman had left on *TOP* of my mailbox, and it had blown off into the middle of the street. Fortunately, she picked it up and held it until I got home from work. Delivery confirmation would have shown that package as delivered, even if it had ended up smashed under car tires, or taken home by some not so honest person.

A woman in Indianapolis was arrested yesterday with her car jammed with mail stolen from peoples mail boxes. They found thousands of pieces that are going to take some time sorting and getting back to the rightful owner.
Was the package too large to fit in a mailbox? If so, the mailman usually just lays it in front of the door. It is possible that it was stolen.
Ask her to please call her local PO and ask the postmaster to check it out.

Remember the USPS does not take responsibility for itself. As I said in a previous thread. I feel that this is the only company that you pay for their services and they don't care if they deliver. First they require you to purchase insurance to insure that the package is delivered, but then if it isn't they make you jump through rings to get your money back. Now we will all have to purchase delivery confirmation with signature so that they can get more money. They need to revamp their service and require on all priority mail a signature with no extra money involved until they can get their act together. This could be a whole other thread but we have beat the USPS into the ground and it won't help anyway. What do they care what we think as nothing has changed except the postal rates.

Well with the new mailboxes that I see around, any package will be to big for them. Maybe like in the older days the postman/lady should only deliver a yellow slip and have the person come to the postoffice to pick up their package. That in my estimation would be the only way to insure delivery confirmation...

I am waiting for my first experience in hearing from a buyer that they never got the package. I use eDC, but I have had packages hung in a bag outside of the box or put on my door step, or put in the backyard (?). I am thankful that the neighborhood kids ignored it. I also have never had one lost enroute to me, again, I am thankful.

This bs has happened to me 5-6 times in the past 2 years (out of approx. 2500 mailings) and I send the following email:
"Dear Schmuck:
I'm sorry you have not received your item yet! The USPS DC Tracking Web-Site indicates that it has been delivered (here I insert the appropriate copy&paste info from that site).
Please let me know if it does not show within the next day or two so I can contact the USPS POSTAL INSPECTORS and initiate an investigation as to theft!
Sincerely (yeah, right!),
Tom Monkey-Porn"
IN EACH & EVERY CASE: "It's a miracle" The item ALWAYS magically appears after they receive the above humble little missive!
