Bidders, please consider leaving a well deserved tip for your seller. For example, if your invoice total is $18.97, can't you write the check, or PayPal $19.00?

Thanks very much.

I've actually gotten a couple of tips. One purposely (have a beverage); and one refused a refund ("no problem, thanks for asking".

I don't know if you would call this a tip or not, maybe just a fee for a late payment I don't know. But in the past month I received an extra dollar for the buyer paying me after my item reached him. (I usually don't do that, but since I had packaged it my husband said why not mail it. It was not an expensive item) and $2.00 for fees paid on another auction from someone that accidentally bought the wrong item. I made a dollar on that transaction after fees were paid. I don't expect a tip though, but I wish my buyers would pay as fast as I send their item. I try sending the same day or the day after. A lot of times when my buyers use a BIN and pay by paypal they have their item in 3 days.

I was shopping for a gift for my Nephew a few years ago. He was all about a movie character that had come out a few years earlier and he wanted the 8" tall 'talking' version. Well... Not available as a toy anymore, so I searched for a collectible. I won the item and arranged for payment and for delivery. The seller understood my dilemma of time and sent the item the same day auction closed and I was sending payment snail mail. Well, when she told me this, I sent an extra $15 in payment as a real thank you for her. As I recall, she thanked me.

I would love a tip! How do you go about asking? Is it against ebay policy? Like if I send them an email asking, can they forward it to ebay and get me in trouble?

I think tipping is all in the buyer, I would never ask for it. As a seller if I sell an item that is 9.93, I round it off to 9.90. Sometimes I get a thank you but most of the time not.

I've been selling on eBay for about three years now and I'm happy if the buyers simply pay me within 10 days without bitching about paying shipping costs.

However, I guess I did get a "tip" one time. I sold a Limoges plate for $65 ($69 something with shipping)to a lady who paid by personal check. She had wonderful feedback and the check had a high #, so I shipped it immediately upon receipt of payment. Well -- it bounced. I was pissed!! I called her on the phone and she was mortified. She assured me she would send me a money order for $79+ that same day (I charged her $10 for the bank fees). When I got off the phone, I was sure that I'd never see that money or the plate again. Well -- three days later I received a money order for $100!!! She enclosed a note, stating that she was so embarrassed, had never bounced a check in her life, something about changing banks, and the extra $21 was "for your trouble". Amazing.
