My father just gave me my Grandfathers whole collection of old tools. These are all tolls from the early 1920's Hand drills, old Craftsman socket 1/2 inch sockets, all kinds of stuff. Can anyone point me somewhere that I can find out values and do some research on this kind of stuff?

Go to www.Ebay.com I hear they have all sorts of research tools available. You can find out the value of about 30 million different items on any given day.

The best place to research old tools is on eBay. The prices have changed so much in the last 2 years that most books and web sites do not have up to date information. Sorry to say in most cases the prices have went down unless you have mint in the box items or rare stuff.

Sorry rccomputers I couldn't help myself. I guess toolhound did put it in a better perspective than I did.
I wish I had my Grandfathers old tools, he was a carpenter from the same era as your Grandfather. He built homes in Las Vegas, NM and I remember playing in his tool shed when I was a wee lad.

Yellowstone,
Thanks for the apology, it was not necessary. It just seems that everyone on this board does it.
It is my opinion that most of us here have at least some expereince with auctions and know the obvious answers. It just seems that everyone gets treated like a novice with the answers from the "experts". It reminds me of the Microsoft Tech support boards for Trained and Certified Microsoft technicians. You post a question there and they ask you if you tried rebooting the computer to fix the problem. You then have to detail every little step you took to resolve the problem before they give you any helpful answers.
In my case, I sell all my own stuff. I have yet to buy inventory so I am not a dealer of any type except when it comes to computer stuff. That is why I ask seemingly stupid questions because I need a little more knowledge to auction something intelligently instead of just dumping it.
As for the tools, Ebay has provided some values, but not good ones. The other sites are probably overpriced because they are dealers. I'll probably keep them awhile. Clean them up a little a think about what it used to be like drilling a hole in an iron pipe with a hand drill.
