Anyone know where to get used packing peanuts in the Los Angeles area? I go through them faster than I get them. I can’t find any place that recycles packing peanuts.

I have 5 large garbage bags full and I'd love for someone to take them off my hands. On the otherhand, I need cheap bubblewrap.

Valleygirl,
I am in Pasadena, if you are local I will gladly take them off or your hands. I can do it today or tomorrow.

Blessings,

Try calling a Garden and Gift shop. Or any gift shop because they get merchandise all the time and they must get packing peanuts. They have to get rid of them somewhere. That's the only suggestion I have. I work in a Garden and Gift shop and they get lots of peanuts. Good Luck

I've heard that furniture stores can be excellent sources for bubble wrap...

You could even go to your local shopping mall or retail area and just go into each store asking who has packing materials to recycle.

Without eBay, I might have a real life...

My parents just stumbled upon a GREAT free source of them for me this week, after seeing me fork over 20 bucks a bag for 'em at local office stores...

Try HEALTH FOOD & VITAMIN STORES !

It seems all the vitamins are packed in peanuts and the store was THRILLED to be able to have them recycled as they are earth concious. I picked up my first batch of what will be a weekly thing now and think I just might end up a reseller of them someday myself as they gave me a minivan full and were so happy to see them go to a good use and not the landfill.

LOL ... CentralValleygirl! Seriously, for those in the Los Angeles area, there are many Latino recyclers that pickup used boxes from sites. If you speak Spanish, you can strike up a deal to have used mailing supplies brought to your house. You can pay them a higher rate then what they recycle it for and you have front door service!

I stumbled onto a Tuesday Morning store (sort of like Ross stores) as they were opening. Asked them if they had any bubble wrap, and they'd just filled two clean dumpsters with bubblewrap up to the very top! They said I was welcome to everything I could reach, so I filled the back of my Forester. We moved to CA and I used a lot of it in the move, packing, but brought the rest with me. Gift stores are ideal.

I like the idea of a health food store, too, as mentioned above, and I'll try that for peanuts soon.
