I sometimes acquire hardcover books for sale on eBay that have warped covers. That is, the edge away from the spine has warped away from the pages. Can one of the posters here who has experience with books offer some repair ideas? Illustration (sort of):

I'm not totally sure what you are dealing with, but a book binding press may straighten the cover out. You can make your own home brew press by using 2 flat boards of proper size for the book covers, and the line the boards with a felt fabric face so as to prevent the boards from scuffing the cover. Then C clamp the whole thing together, for at least 48 hours. This will usually work to straighten a cover.
Also, check out your local vocational college or university, and see if they offer a book binding, or paper conservation course, sometimes it will be an adult education course at a community college.

Go to the ebay book board chat room ... they are a veritable font of information! They have something called the big red post (or blue post) that has tons of stuff in it. Bet there is some stuff about book repair there.
