I will condense this story, but I thought I needed to share it. A couple of weeks ago I sold a replica gun for a friend who had inherited it from an uncle. The man who won it emailed me after the auction ended asking to package it in bubble wrap and peanuts and added $3.00 extra to cover the packing expense. He also asked many questions about the gun and I told him how I came across it etc., and that I didn't know much about it and neither did the owner (who was thrilled that it went for over $50.00). A couple days ago I sold a similar gun to him for $57.00 (I emailed him and told him I was going to list it because he was so pleased with the first gun when he received it). I just received an email from him today. It said in short that if it's by the same company as the gun he won 2 weeks ago it's worth about $200.00 on ebay and he wouldn't feel right about purchasing it now that he knows this and he wants me to relist it. He even told me what to put in the title to get the right collector - told me what markings to look for on the gun - everything. I thanked him and explained to him that Ebay is a contract and he he has a right to the gun. He emailed me back and said he is a born Again Christian and Jesus told him it was the right thing to do. There are still some wonderful buyers out there

Amazing that you guys can get off track so easily. I think it is wonderful that ihula had such a great customer. I too had a similiar experience with a piece of pottery that a gentleman purchased... I sold it for $300 to him and had another one and he told me how to list it to get more than 3 times the amount he paid. What a doll!
About the selling of guns on eBay, I don't know the 'rules' about replicas but you would think that if you can have amputation saws, voltage batons, and cross-bows, etc.. a gun replica shouldn't be a big deal.
I am thrilled for ihula!!!
There's no danger of developing eyestrain from looking at the bright side of things!

Just went to look this up and yes one can sell them. As long as they meet these guide lines.
Replicas Without Proper Markings: Federal and state laws require that replica, "look alike" and imitation firearms have clear markings permanently affixed to the weapon -- the most common requirement is a blaze orange plug inserted in the barrel of the item. This law applies even to novelty items, such as cigarette lighters, that are designed to look like firearms. eBay will NOT permit the listing of any look alike weapon that does not comply with these laws.

sweetboo:
If your buyer was such a DOLL he would have bid three times more than he did. If he had the extra 3 hundred he would have let you list the second one, like the first and picked it up for himself!
And as far as getting off track, It purtained to the thread.
