I'm not an AW tech but I had exactly the same question not long ago.

When you hit Enter, the italics and bold are turned off.

Type, "Dear USPS Customer" and then add an ending tag....then space before the first paragraph.

Start over with the [i] and keep typing to the end without using enter or return. Then use the ending tag.

After spacing, start over again etc.

I have noticed this also. I always do it the same way and sometimes it works other times, it doesn't.

Since I copied and pasted the entire letter, I wasn't about to go an edit it.

AW still needs to explain why a tag combination doesn't work for that...

It's really not the fault of AW. It's simply the way that ubb works.

This, for example is how your letter should look in order to display with italics.

Of course, there should not be a space in the ending tags. I used a space so that the ubb would not work.

ed to add brackets to signature

Also, don't use the return while typing the paragraphs...Just type to the end of the paragraph without hitting return. Add the closing tag and then, hit return.

I think not hitting the enter key is the main thing. I had not realized that would turn of the bold and italics function till you posted it.

Right!!!

That's the answer. I was so happy when I learned how to italicize an entire paragraph.

Since there's no search facility here, I can't point out the post from several weeks ago - also USPS related where all I had to do was type an "i" at the start and and "/i" at the end, and muliple paragraphs of pasted text were italicized.
