seems like I saw a discussion not long ago about being careful about taking CC payments from people overseas? Where was it? Someone just emailed and asked if I would ship to Indonesia.

I think Indonesia is one of the "watch out" countries, but you could email them you will only accept payment through BidPay and you will ship to the confirmed address provided by BidPay once the money order is received.

If they are legit, you should have no problem, if they are not you won't hear from them again.

I generally do not like lumping ALL people from any particular country together and assume that they are all the same.

Surely there must be some Indonesians who have their own CC's????

Don't take this a gospel but I don't think even BidPay will accept an Indonesian shipping address due to the excessive fraud over there.

Credit cards and Indonesia is like fire and gasoline, you just don't put the two together.

I have had $5000 in sales from Indonesia in the past month. I was nervous too especially since they had given me a number of credit cards to try. I will not ship the items until the money hits our account.

uaru you are most probably right.

I have emailed BidPay and asked if there are any countries they will not accept orders from but am not sure how long it will take to get an answer.

The reason I suggested emailing BidPay as the only acceptable method of payment and that shipment would go out to the confirmed address upon receipt of the money order was to more or less give the buyer the benefit of doubt and to let them know that that the item would not ship until money was in hand and shipment would only be to the confirmed registered BidPay address.

Kinda stops scammers in their tracks I would think.

Seeing as this is a 0 FB buyer, it doesn't look too promising does it?

Then again, they did email first.

I just had an Internationl winner who never bothered to answer my EOA and let me know they were international. They just sent payment with PP and furnished a "non-confirmed" address and only paid $6.00 for shipping! When I notified them it would cost an additional $9 they told me to just stick it in a bubble mailer, mark it gift and send it parcel. They were not in a hurry.....makes me crazy!

UBB Corrections....

This all may be a moot point. it doesn't look like PayPal allows Indonesia and I don't use anything else.

glassgrl-If PP doesn't accept Indonesia I doubt any of the online services do.

I sure would hate to be an honest person living in Indonesia...

They gave you several credit cards to try??? I'm curious what assurances you have once the money hits your account that no fraud is involved?

Are you doing this via a merchant account?

My inquiring mind want to know more.

glasgirl,
the addr does not ring the bell,it does look like an authentic indonesian addr-sumatra is one of the islands of indonesia.
most online payment services would not touch malaysia, indonesia, nigerian and some eastern countries.neither would propay.
have you tried billpoint??
if you have your own merchant account or know someone who does, you can ask her to call her provider and find the bank which issues his credit card.
if it were a US bank, call that bank and give this indonesian guy;s name and addr, they may not say who is the real owner of the card but they will give you a yes or no answer.
in fact if the answer is no,they should notify their customer right away and kill that card.
many indonesians have managed to steal us card data and placed orders on yahoo.
it sounds like you dont have merchant account and paypal wont do it,then try billpoint .
indnesians may have way to come up with us cash, ask him to send cash by registered mail

We have a website in addition to our Ebay gig. There are no guarantees. I feel comfortable that they have given me the same billing address and we use a trackable service for delivery.

We receive CC orders on our website every few days from Indonesia. They all want the fastest shipping rate. I would never accept a credit card from there.

popnrock, please read carefully what
uaru said.

Same billing address and a trackable service for delivery means nothing when you ship to Indonesia. It doesn't mean that the CC is legit at all and you are open to chargebacks within the next month if it isn't. For your sake I hope you just didn't lose $5000.

stopwhining, Billpoint does not support Indonesia at all.

My employer has done business all over the world for years and has never been burned. If it were up to me, I would do things differently with this customer but I need to follow through with what they want. Like I said, there are no guarantees. It is a risk my employer is willing to take.

try a few different credit cards??why ??
i assume your employer has mechant account, what is the reason why some cards are rejected or just be nice, lets say not accepted??
indonesia is a mess right now,and they are hoarding us dollars like crazy.
dont feel shy asking them to pay you in cash, but then their post office is crooked too.
some counries are in finanical mess, once i sent a perfectly good amex intl money order to turkey and he can just walk in and cash that mo,but he does not want to be seen walking into an amex office,he would rather have cash hidden in a book and sent to his home/
