They say the largest impact could be on PayPal and other such services and ultimately the "mom/pops" who can't afford merchant accounts to process Mastercard directly.
PayPal said they were working on a deal with Mastercard.
eBay said Billpoint would not be affected since they work with Wells Fargo.
Yahoo's PayDirect couldn't be reached (I see it's not just me that has trouble in the area).

Well Wall Street has heard about it. Paypal released its numbers, has turned a profit and revenues are up, but the stock is going down.

Look at a credit card statement where you made a purchase through BillPoint. If the seller's name or business isn't on the statment you were dealing with a 3rd party payment service.
At one time BillPoint did have the seller's ID on the statement. The credit card companies made them stop at a long time ago, as BillPoint was the one making the charge and receiving the payment.

Not sure how the backend transactions are actually negotiated, but the last time I used ProPay (March 2002), the seller's e-mail appeared on the buyer's credit card statement.
