I was just reading another thread where someone referred to Epier and Gruvo. It was the first I heard about them and was wondering what peoples experience was?

Good? Bad?

Anyone get any sales through them?

Epier is a wonderful site with the look and feel of eBay. It is easy to navigate, list on, buy on or sell on. The problem is there are no buyers there. I have tried them on and off over the past year or so and every time have been extremely disappointed because of no sales.

I have no idea who or what Gruvo is but I’d bet the farm the same goes for them, no sales ….

Health & happiness

To be blunt...

If you never heard of them, what makes you think buyers have either?

No advertising = No visitors.

That's what I figured. I am pretty up on what happens on the internet, but sometimes I miss something. I thought maybe they sliped by and I was missing someting. Guess not.

Both sites have pretty good set ups, but sales tend to be slow like most third tier sites. Gruvo is fairly new, but does have some promise. They have one of those QVC type of TV shows that runs on the east coast. What you do is list your items and one of there special features is putting your item on the show. They are planning on expanding, but I am guessing that will take a while until the funds start coming there way. The concept is good and should work over time. At least they are advertising. The losers at Bidville should take a lesson from these guys.

There are quite a few third tier auction sites out there - take a peek in the Other Online Auctions Forum for an idea (you'll have to wade through the petty bickering though ).

Some I wouldn't touch with a 50ft pole like AuctionDiner (formerly BidBay) and BidVille (unless you sell sportscards or recipes). Others, like Carnaby and SYI , are well thought out sites that are only lacking in exposure. I'm not sure what SYI is doing to generate publicity but I read that Carnaby is getting ready to launch their Cash Cow Promotion and advertising campaign in the next week or so.

From a buyer's perspective, a third tier site can be a dream - I've picked up countless bargains because bidding is quieter and there is less competition for me

Yup there are those other sites - I signed up for epier summer of 2000 -put up auctions and finally gave up- nothing sold and zero hits on anything - only when I looked the listings. forgot about the site then last July I see a 20 dollar charge on my card from epier - didnt authorize anything so I try contacting epier and find out its a verification charge for my seller id to be listed as verified - they wouldnt refund it so I had to do a charge back - also tried to unregister from the site and they wont remove me or my credit card info - Its still there - Hope you have better luck.

OK4,

When they tried to charge a fee to "ask a seller a question" I sent an e-mail telling them to cancel my membership. That seemed to do the trick. It stopped the e-mails from coming (the seller kept trying to answer my question, but they wouldn't let me read the answer unless I paid a fee).

In the e-mail I gave the reason for cancellation. I told them not only are they losing money from my future buying, but from my future sales.
lurking is not an option

alwaysbroke, I tried the email route with no response - then I tried their boards - not a peep - Finally I found the phone # and got a live person who was very nice but insisted that all was well - Said that he would at least remove my credit card data from the registration info- Its still there lol Must be a one man show over there and the person never has time to do anything.
I dunno....
Ive moved on

I like the ones that have STUPID NAMES like:

Itchybids.com or poopoo.com (or whatever that silly place called themselves)!
