I am wondering how many of you who have website use CCnow and what your take is on them.

I am not yet at the point where I want to spend the money for a merchant account and all the fees that go along with one but my site is generating 150+ hits per day I feel I should be getting a few more sales than I am at this time.

Since the products I sell have a huge profit margine in them I thought CCnow whould be a good place to see if there is going to be an advantage of me taking a credit cards on my site. I currently do mail order and PayPal only.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

stopwhining - I didn't know you could use BillPoint other than for ebay auctions. Where do you get information regarding the use of their service on a website ? You mean I can send anyone anywhere, anytime a Bill Pay invoice without it being an eBay auction????

dman3 - I currently use PayPal on my website and their shopping Cart feature. It is great but I feel I am losing sales by not taking credit cards directly. A lot of people who are not used to on-line auctions have no clue what PayPal is.

Thanks to both of you for the information. I look forward to more input

I've used CCNow as a authorized reseller on my web site for the last few years.

I also use the services of PayPal, RegSoft, and accept checks and money orders.

CCNow charges 8-9% depending on the month, and I have never had a single chargeback through them. Thier fraud screening is outstanding.

PayPal does grab about 50% of my orders now that its an option, but I've already been hit with a chargeback from an account that was hacked and then used to purchase from my store.

Even though PayPal takes a smaller comission I feel CCNow is a better service, they truely insulate me from payment processing and always pay me on time.

Another thing to realize about CCNow is they are not like PayPal in that they are an 'Authorized Reseller' for your products.

Legally speaking they purchase your products from you as raw materials, and market them as sold directly from CCNow, unlike other companies like PayPal which provide 3rd party payment processing on your behalf.

Its a sound model that does not violate banking laws like PayPal. I think they will have no problems with the recent MasterCard fiasco because of it.

CCNow also has fantastic customer service and operates an 800 number that people with a clue answer. The 800 number is for both sellers and people who place orders. I've never used it myself since they always reply to e-mail within a few hours when I have inquired.

One downside to CCNow is that for new accounts they are charging a $9.99 a month fee if you do less than $100 in sales.

This has not been a problem for me but its something to consider.

You might consider ProPay...I have used them for about six months now. Fees are higher than PayPal but lower than CCnow.
They do have a shopping cart feature for web sites and do a good job in credit card verification. I like this service due to the flexability to manually process credit cards.

The drawbacks would be the initial 35.00 sign up fee and you need to hold a reserve or bank with them in order to exceed $1K a month in charges.

kolonel22, yes you can use Billpoint for your website. You can add the button from here.

if you are a member of costco, they have a deal for you-5.95 statement fee,2.01 discount and 28 cents transaction for domestic orders.
intl discount rate is higher.
but you have to either buy or lease a terminal/printer from them or use their virtual terminal called IONGATE which addes 5 cents per transaction to your order and 50 dollars set up fee.
minumim monthly fee is 10 dollars.
any chargeback filed against you is 10.00 whether you are at fault or not.
if you are a goldstar exec member of costco, statement fee is waived.
propay rate is higher than billpoint,3.5% is rather steep and that reserve ??
also propay detest intl transactions and billpoint does not do business with certain countries.
you can also consider amzn one click for 15%

I used CCNow on my website for a couple of years without any problems at all.

However, the steep fees and the delay in getting paid (4-6 weeks) was just too much/slow for me.

I'm using PayPal on my website now.

Thanks to everyone for your input and suggestions I learned a lot from you all.

Especially about Bill Point I didn't have a clue you culd use them for other than ebay auctions and I've been around since Bill Point was introduced.

some folks initiate chargebacks when they cannot recognise the charge they see on their monthend statement.
when you use billpoint,it will say ebay payment,so make sure you use the remaining description to describe your website and what they bot from you.
also billpoint chargeback i believe is 15 dollars, and some have complained billpoint is less considerate when it comes to chargeback.

CCNow hold back a few weeks of funds, so each 2 week payment period you are paid for the previous 2 weeks.

UPDATE:

Well the good news I signed up for CCnow and added them as an option to pay by credit card along with PayPal to my website. This was done late in the evening on the 24th.

That night I received a CCnow order. Since then my orders have actually increased in the dollar amount of each order as well as the number of orders received each day and there hasn’t been one PayPal order since I instituted CCnow. Needless to say it is evident within these past few days to me that people want to pay by credit card and just didn’t want the hassle of signing up for PalPal or didn’t understand the PayPal process.

Frankly I prefer PayPal because they deposit your funds immediately into your account and you have instant access to them. I am hoping time will show people will use both services so I have some access to my money in a more timely manner and at a less of a cost to me.

Basically what I am going to do is see what happens in the month of May and June, if sales continue to do well I will start looking into a merchant account and shopping cart software it just all depends.

Health & happiness

Is there a way to use PayPal, CCnow or Propay and make sure you do not oversell something that you only have a few of? Or do you need to stay on top of everything pretty closely?

tfs13,

I keep a very close track on my inventory and only sell what I have on hand ready to ship.
