This isn't ebay related, but I get such great response and help here that I'm crossing the line a bit. I've had over 60 emails this evening and they're still coming every few minutes from an unknown sender with an aol address and all have attachments. I just keep deleting them and haven't opened any. First time anything so strange has happened with email. Anyone else getting this? When I turned the computer on tonight I couldn't believe my eyes. I get more than my fair share of unwanted email which I don't open, but to see a non ending string from the same sender threw me a bit and it doesn't seem to be letting up. Any suggestions appreciated. I confess to being a real dummy with this computer, but I try.

Sounds like either someone is PI**ed at you or is a computer newbe and somehow has sent a hundred duplicates. I once sent 25 duplicate faxes when I was learning. Don’t open emails. Run your anti virus program and fully delete all e-mails. You will be fine

It is probably the newest email virus WORM_KLEZ.H Make sure your virus software is updated.

Here are some details, It sounds like what you are seeing.

These details are from one of the Antivirus software vendors.

W32.Klez.gen@mm is a mass-mailing worm that searches the Windows address book for email addresses and sends messages to all recipients that it finds. The worm uses its own SMTP engine to send the messages.

The subject and attachment name of incoming emails is randomly chosen. The attachment will have one of the following extensions: .bat, .exe, .pif or .scr.

Well that little devil has invaded us here in central NY for sure. Everyone I talk to is getting dozens of emails with a PIF extension and nothing in the subject line. Saw and address for a cleaner for the darn thing the other day but it hadn't shown up here at the time so I didn't pay any attention to it. Anyone have that address?

Block your sender and it will go directly into your delete box. I can do that with outlook express but I don't know if you can do that with AOL.

You might want to try this link...

http://www.mailwasher.net/

I've been using it for awhile and find it quite easy to use and it sure cuts down the time spent sorting all the junk!

The mailwasher window is wide and easy to read; including subject, size and who it is from, plus more. You can use it for all your mailboxes at once, which is REAL handy.

The program deletes and bounces, as you specify, before it ever gets to your computer.

Bouncing, of course, makes it appear to the sender that the address is no longer valid. Eventually the sender will (hopefully) remove you from their mailing list.

A free trial download is available on their website. If it works for you, the author asks that you make a $20 donation (no payment required). It is certainly worth the $$$, especially when one considers the cost of most of these programs.

Good luck! Hope this works for you as well as it has for me.

Pat...

This is a link to Symantec's Norton Antivirus removal tool for the virus. It is independent of Norton Antivirus so you don't have to have Norton Antivirus to run it.

Hope this helps and doesn't violated posting policy.

Also know that there is a free online virus scanner here if you suspect you may have a virus.

Thanks to all for your help. I truly appreciate it. I was greeted this morning with at least 60 - 70 new emails from this sender. Getting a cramped finger hitting the delete button...this is getting old in a hurry. There are about 6 different "subject" lines used over and over in these emails. The sender email address appears to be a legit @aol address, not one of those strange looking ones. As I said before, I'm not at all computer "smart" and didn't know until one of you suggested that I could block the sender. I muddled my way through the instructions, blocked it, and after 4 hours so far (keeping fingers crossed) have not received any new ones.

I have also been getting these type of emails, but not just from AOL. Gateway, MSN, Hotmail, dell.net and a few real oddball ones..... Guess we just let this "burn" itself out..

I started getting them yesterday. From the same person. Only about 2-3/day. They change their address each time, but it's from the same place. I used Outlook Express blocking, but since they change their addy each time, it doesn't help.

Today I used Spam Punisher (off the internet). It is donationware. It submits a complaint to the IP.

Hope it works.
