For just one email......Create mail. Click on Tools, Request Read Receipt
For every message...... on the Main menu, click Options, click Receipt, click "read receipt for all messages".

Autoreply means when I get an email from someone, an email automatically goes out to them... say for when I go on vacation.

I'm going to bump this because I want to know the answer too. I was told awhile back that you couldn't do it through Outlook Express. I started a yahoo email account after that - they have that feature and I used it when I went away to a funeral overseas.

In Outlook Express, select 'Tools' from the menu bar, 'Message Rules' from the dropdown menu and select 'Mail' to get the dialog for making a new rule.
Click 'New'
1. Select conditions. It can be for all messages or selected messages.
2. Select the Actions. Check the 'Reply with Message' box.
3. Click on the highlighted word 'message' in the rule description box and select the file that has your autoreply message.
Of course this will also reply to spam. Unless, of course, you have a nice set of spam rules to filter out spam. In which case, you'll want to put your autoreply rule after your spam rules. Then you'll only be autorepling to emails that get past your spam filters.

BKMUNROE - OK before you told me how to do it, that's what I did and it didn't work??
I had created an email in WORD and saved it as a text file for the "message." I sent emails to the email with the auto-reply, and I never got any thing. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure. I retried my instructions and they worked.
It won't autoreply to a message sent between 2 accounts on the same computer.
If you're only trying to respond to certain messages, make sure that your conditions are correct.
Also, the autoreponse is put in your outbox, so you have to have OE set to automatically send out email.
