A few months ago, just to try it out, I
opened an eBay storefront. My thinking was
that I would put lower priced items (to
save on listing fees) and things that had
failed to sell at auction in there (since I
had already done the descriptions and
pictures). So far, I've made some sales,
and I was going to give it a few more months
before deciding whether I should keep it.
Up until now, when I listed an item at
auction and it didn't sell (the first time)
I could relist it as an auction OR list
it to my storefront. In BOTH cases, the
eBay system would state that my listing
fee ($0.30 auction, or $0.05 store) would
be refunded if the item sold that (2nd) time.
While I do now (finally) use a bulk loader
for submitting auctions, I still do relists
by hand, one at a time. Then along came
version 2.0 of eBay's selling form. Now, it
no longer states that when moving items to
the storefront.
When I went to do my relists, and move some
items to my storefront yesterday (for the
first time using 2.0, which is now mandatory)
the verify/submit page said no refund was
possible. I clicked LiveHelp (which I had
used earlier in the day for the first time
to successfully solve a problem) and the
person I dealt with this time, while polite,
informed me that a quick e-mail they sent
to billing received a reply saying that what
I said had NEVER been the case! Excuse me!
While I don't have a printout of the page,
and I'm not about to search through old
eBay invoices, I am positive that it DID
used to say what I stated. I think I can
remember something that happened as
recently as a week ago!
Can anyone else confirm that the old form
allowed for a refund under the conditions
that I stated? Thank you.
Z
(who will be cancelling his storefront...)

Sorry Z...tried a storefront while they were free, became tired of all the problems and moved it here...which has been relatively problem free and satisfactory. Good luck!

2.0 isn't mandatory yet for regular auctions, just the default. There is a little clickable line that says you can still use the old form. I'm like the guys on the Titanic, I'm hanging on to the old form till the ship goes under water.

Boy, it would help if the replies I've
received had ANYTHING to do with what I
was asking. Too bad. This is the first
time this forum has failed me.
I went ahead an cancelled my eBay storefront
this morning. They know they changed their
policy. I know they changed their policy.
They just won't admit that they did it.
Too bad for them.

I think you are mistaken. I believe that this was for regular auctions only and not for stores. When the number of days you list for in a store runs out you can list the same item again, but it's not considered a relist.
You may find out more information at this link: http://pages.ebay.com/storefronts/pricing.html where it says: The fees vary based on the duration of your listing.
You may find a better answer by going to one of the live eBay chat boards and asking.
Sorrr I can't be of more help.
