I mailed my father a Christmas present priority mail last year the 1st of December and it did not arrive until the 28th.

All the auction items I mailed in that time frame arrived with no problem.

Lately I am receiving media mail as quickly as I am receiving priority mail(I am not selling for the summer, just buying things).

Not much help in when to panic, but it doesn't seem to matter how an item is shipped, sometimes it takes weeks. The post office asks you to wait 30 days to file a claim so I would ask my customer to do the same (if possible).

I had one record I sold last year that was returned to me as "no longer at address". He was at the address I had on the package, but did not have a sticker with his name on it on the mailbox. He received mail every day there but for some reason the post office decided to return my package. It took 6 weeks to get back to me. Thank goodness for digital camera's as he was sure I was not telling the truth about it being returned, but I had the box with the return statement and his correct address to prove it and a photo emailed immediately showing it all. I had already refunded his money. He went ahead and paid again and it eventually got there, but if this is being returned to you for some reason it can take a very long time.

Hi: All the more reason to do what I do on media mail packages: Since most buyers won't take the trouble to look for the date stamp on the postage tape, I write, near their name and address, "Your half.com (or ebay) order, sent ____ (date)." I've had absolutely no complaints and no feedback comments since then (about a year) commenting on slower than usual shipping.

There's also something a bit subliminal going on, I think. The postal clerk also sees my note on the front. I don't know if that gives a teeny bit more attention to my package or not.

I have only used Media Mail for sending out a family history. Over a years time I mailed out 100 copies. Never had any problem. All were received within 10 days. These wer the size of a Sears catalog, over 800 pages.

From Alaska to anywhere in the lower 48 it almost always takes 3 weeks. I think it flys to Seattle and takes a truck from there.

Before the half merger into ebay, I would constantly get feedback about how long it took for items to arrive - Well, when you pay media mail rate, that is what you get. Now that the two are combined, I have a different account for half, so if I get negative feedback, it will not affect my ebay account. I also try not to send things media rate on ebay, even if it means charging more for shipping.
